How are you going to obtain the next car?
Cash / loan / lease etc?

How long do you intend to keep it?
Won't do full cash. May be a portion cash and the rest financing.

Look, Tesla's aren't *that* bad. The original price point was an early adopter price. It's starting to settle. And there's unsold inventory because the CEO is a loud-mouth, much to everyone's chagrin. But they still have very well-designed systems, the battery, etc, were and still are cutting edge in terms of fault-handling and robustness. It drives fairly well, is it a Porsche? No. It most certainly is not. Not on the inside or the outside. That's why we're here and not on Teslarati.com. But, honestly, the design, of the Model S anyway, the original, is still quite a good looking car. Timeless, classic. The newer stuff, not so much. The interior, yes, they cheaped out. Bummer. We early adopters took one for the team. But that's what it took to get the EV marketplace cooking with gas. :D

In general, car prices went up as supply plummeted due to post lock-down (and factory fire) chip and labor shortages. They are going to rebalance. Porsche will not then voluntarily reduce their price point. They'd sooner slow the line and create artificial demand... did I say that out loud?

If you want a Taycan, buy one. If you need exactly what you want, buy new, if you can settle on some points, buy lightly used. If you're in the market for a 6 figure car, $5k shouldn't keep you up at night. Depreciation is a thing, but honestly, as batteries become more easily replaced depreciation with BEVs is going to be substantially less than an ICE car. FAR less wear and tear. With a new battery or three along the way I bet my 2012 Model S goes for 50 years. Same with Taycan (once they get their crap softwares sorted out.) YMMV.

Price increase is all around, especially in the premium/luxury segment.
Here prices coming down. The economy is in the toilet and the competition is fierce. Most companies have stock. I get a Audi Q4 in 2 weeks fresh out of the factory. BMW new i3 in 4 weeks. Merc EQE, VW ID.3/4/6, all ready in 2 days.

Tesla is out of the game totally.
I thought you like it so much. How do you come to that conclusion? Massive quality problems like mine?

50 years??? My MS90D is 7-8 years old and literally falling apart. Please give me some of the stuff you are smoking, since I am desperately seeking for a happy end with my MS90D junk. o_O

I still like it at its own class. No quality issue at all after 85t km, like a new. My Taycan is much better but for almost 3 times higher price. Value per money Tesla is still great.

Given that I have the Cross Turismo, I don’t consider that this model has any competition. Even the sedan, which has a few other brands that are close to being in-family from a competition standpoint, separates itself in build/driving quality. Given this, it’s hard to compare price at this time. I believe true competition is about 3-5 years away and some of that will come from Porsche itself with the Panamera (god willing) ?.
Why would Porsche have an EV Taycan and Panamera? Taycan is basically an electric Panamera isn't it (I came from Pan to Taycan). Certain the CT/ST variants, it would be easy to confuse then if they were parked next to each other. Or am I missing something?

To increase prices is just logical. Demand surpasses supply (by far).
I would just do the same.

Also, it's not meant to be a mass car for everyone. I like that, honestly.
I am also quite amused to read tests here and how much better the Taycan still is compared to other EVs (800Vs is a big thing here if you drive fast).

That said, I am still very happy. The Taycan has the typical EV disadvantages (lower range in cold conditions, App is not perfect etc.) But I learnt to maneuver around those and enjoy the many advantages and near perfect ride.

The Panamera is a larger and more premium vehicle. Taycan is a bit of a tweener.

Well, It looks like the Taycan is 3cm wider, 3cm lower and 8cm shorter and wheelbase 5cm shorter. Not exactly room for another row of seats is it!!

Base model taycan is about £6k more than equivalent Panamera. Why/how is a Pan more 'premium'?

Same here: there’s no competition on Taycan.
The best design, engineering & manufacturing, the best looking EV car in the market.

Taycan has more plastics inside and rear is less spacious. Jumping from my Panamera TS to Taycan feels a level below.

I agree.
I chose a Toyota Prius PHEV over a Panamera ST plug in hybrid 5 years ago…

Rear will be less spacious in an electric panamera too - battery below and all that.

Interesting point about the interior. Hadn't really spent much the back of either of mine, so wasn't aware.

Do you really think they'll do an electric Panamera? I can't think it would make any sense unless one of the saloons was significantly bigger than the other - eg like the Cayenne and Macan.

Model S body was re-worked for the latest generation, with much more pronounced fender flares and a far better overall stance on its tire/wheel setup.

The interior is also much improved, and now you can even get a *real* steering wheel instead of the joke/yoke.

It offers better-than-Taycan-Turbo acceleration and practicality for a less-than-base/RWD Taycan price, with longer range and better tech.

It's no Taycan, but dismissing it out of hand ignores reality IMHO.
