You have chosen to completely misunderstand, or misrepresent my point.

So yes, The Taycan Cross Turismo ended up being the only car suiting my requirements. If I hadn't bought it I would not have bought a new car at all.
I haven’t “chosen” anything about your comments.

The idea that there’s only a single ideal vehicle is the underpinning of the very existence of many automobile enthusiast message boards, and is the reason many are so toxic.

Competitive makes and models offer different takes on the idea of a large EV luxury sports sedan. Some of those may have certain advantages over the Taycan when “personal choice” is factored in.

I’m glad you’re happy with your car.

I am in French Alps with family of 4 on 1 week skiing holiday. In a saloon!!!!
Rent skis so no need even for roof box!
Only ski once a year so cheaper to rent than to buy and SO MUCH LESS FAFF.
Put skis on roof if you need.
No mess in car.
I don’t even have ski hatch as I want the back seat to match the front in with 18 way and more room for the 2 passengers.
I even had room for essential supplies.
Gin Campari and Martini Rosso for apres ski Negroni. Charger in ski station a bonus.
My mate has the FB CT4. Just gives him an excuse to bring stuff he doesn’t need.

When did you set off? Mid January? :D

You assumed I was a Porsche enthusiast whereas I am an engineer and have no brand obsession - I think brand fandom is stupid given the turnover of staff.

Name me one other car which could satisfy my requirement then?

I explained to you why the Taycan was on a short list of one twice so far.

The OP asked for opinions about the Taycan vs. its competition. I provided some. The end.
Sorry, probably, you made some stupid assumptions about me in a reply which pissed me off so I reacted.
The end.

It’s getting hot in here.

Maybe the Kia Niro EV6?
I ordered my CT4S in July 2021 then waited 17 months, so before the EV6. I would definitely have looked at it if starting today but it is still too big (the one thing which nearly made me not order the Taycan) , has privacy glass, no apparent choice of interior colour (which probably means boring black) and 4 exterior colours none of which I care for.
It is pretty well half way to being a SUV as well so it also probably wouldn’t have made it onto the shortlist after I had driven it.

Agreed.
That’s why i said that there were no other options for me as well.
Good looking exterior, selectable interior, quality of manufacturing… I’d place the same order today.

It seems like the best Taycan competition will come from Porche (and other VW group brands) themselves once the PPE cars start arriving (A6 etron, Macan EV, etc). But, atleast here in the US, i'd expect it will another 1-2 years before I'd actually be able to take delivery of one of those cars. And then would I really want to be one of the first with the inevitable teeting issues, dealer ADMs, etc? So realistically, we're probably 3 years out from having some real alternatives to the Taycan*

Prices for used ones do seems to be slowly coming down; my goal is to pickup a used CT4 for around 80k by the end of this year.

*Atleast for what I'm looking for in a car which has to include good build quality and looks. MB and BMW have screwed up the looks of their EVs, Telsas quality is mediocre, and I wouldnt risk spending this much a product from a startup (like Lucid).
