I am nearly 3 years in with mine and I still love it…loved my past Porsche’s too. That said; hard to justify $150-$200K+ for an EV. A decent Cayenne EV will easily be in this range.
Probably more of a 2 Door Taycan than it is a sports car. I would pass on this. A technological breakthrough is required to achieve a different level of power/weight ratio. I’d be shocked if it didn’t drive great on the street but carrying 2/3 (or more) of the Taycan battery pack has...
If depreciation is a key part of this decision, then Toyota would be a good option. Having owned all 3 of the cars mentioned, my ranked choice is Taycan, Panamera, and Macan (distant 3rd). Macan is a great vehicle but not in the same class as the others. The only thing that would change my...
I suspect the same. Apple now has billions of dollars of auto tech experience that is no longer behind a firewall pending the release of their new car. This is a huge opportunity for integration and they seem to have been well partnered with Porsche for some time….
The EV democratizes acceleration. No longer limited to the top 2% of vehicles.
At some point, I expect legislation in this area. When the masses can go 0-60 in ~3 secs, I am going to go out on a limb here and predict negative outcomes for all involved.
I believe the concept that Tesla was going for is that the truck is so awesome underneath that it can adorn that ugly styling and still be compelling…..similar to the concept of a supermodel wearing an ugly dress. For me, its a hard pass for so many reasons, the styling is just one of them.
I was never anti-EV but I admit I didn’t fully understand them until Taycan. My reference point was the typical “Tesla-bro” that fancied him/herself a superior humanoid for having made the switch to EV.
I find that if you let people ask questions and answer them without being a jerk then...
I like the 2-speed transmission. Not ideal from a weight, cost, and complexity standpoint but it provides some personality. I am counting on Porsche to maintain some level of personality in their cars.
I am curious as to whether Porsche keeps the 2-speed gearbox for its more premium vehicles or whether other new vehicles will get the single speed. The Macan is the lowest vehicle in the range so it makes sense to eliminate it for that reason alone but they also have a ton of learning now...
