Sure, but not in my city destroying my health!

My buddy bought a Macan EV in China. Electronics problem with the screens, half the time don't work. Cannot get it fixed. He complained: Worst car he ever bought. My Taycan also had problems with the battery 3 times amongst other small issues over the years. The problem with Prosche in China...

    [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

Need, no! Want, YEEEEES! Why, because here in China/Germany even with dense charging network, charging still sucks big time. I'd rather have a bigger battery and don't charge at all, that's the reality! My wife loves the Zeekr 001 with 140kWh. Gives her almost 1000km range for her commute. She...

Now we are getting to the heart of it. VW has made over 20billion last year in profits, but did spend a lot on investments, so the div is low. These people whine so that they have enough momentum to close down slightly more "expensive" German plants.

The 5 year LFP guarantee is not a warranty, but a sales pitch for their grid scale battery.

    [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

It is a very relevant detail, because most people are clueless when it comes to battery other then the one in the TV remote. Battery manufacturing is highly automated like solar panel production, if not even more so, because prices fell even faster. Without batteries for the grid, there is no...

Of course, but it shows the direction... Let's face it, if a quality EV in China cost 50k and in US 80k, then there is no way anybody can charge 50k for the battery when it costs less than 5k in China. CATL battery is quality. They guarantee 0% degradation for the first 5 years for the new LFP...

Not subsidized, the chinese gov is out of money! My guess was pretty spot on! Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) received 10 new ships with a capacity of 24,232 TEU in 2023. So it would be 4 ship loads to get 100000 containers... CATL is not the only player in the market. To my knowledge...

These are the prices what CATL offers to its customers! These are the costs which BYD has for its EVs. Why do you think a 100kWh EV ist so cheap in China? It's incredible what is going on in the market! Germany now has applications to plug into the grid over 100x the current battery capacity...

    [opinion] - hmmm…VW/Audi/Porsche may be in trouble…

That's why I don't buy from start ups. Too risky. Look at all the Fisker owners... Think about it, there is a revolution in the energy market with storage batteries becoming so dirt cheap! China is already peak carbon, and lowering its oil import bill every month. How long do you think the...

Is the quality better now? Last time you said... :) The lack of EV enthusiasm is temporary. 1. People are scared of unproven expensive batteries. This is not an issue anymore. The price is now down to $80/kWh and $60 for LFP and will drop to 20 in the long run. This are ready pack prices, not...

    taycan replacement

I drive the same platform car Zeekr 001. Really good, minus the software, particularly the self driving feature... The 140kWh battery with 750km real world range is out of this world...

    taycan replacement

That junk? Please... My money would be on the upcoming Polestar 4, power, size, space inside. If I had to buy, I would pick a BMW i5 or EQE. Selfdriving features are the best.

Taycan efficiency vs VW ID7 … can it be true?

He goes into some details on some of the small changes VW made on this new motor and drivetrain to get it more efficient. The problem of the German EV car industry is China. China has access to all the raw materials and resource to spill out large batteries for "small" money and therefore can...

A Taycan or an BMW I5 M60- what would you do?

You are right. I also drove the iX for a week, and the self driving features were not as good as in my EQA. However, BMW improved the system in the new i5 as what I saw here:
