Coincidently, just after our conversation yesterday, I popped to my local Porsche dealer, and they had a Mystic Green Cayenne Turbo parked outside (I've been several times in the last few weeks and they only had a demo in Monteverde). When I arrived the sun was behind cloud and it looked a certain shade, but then five minutes later when the sun came out, it changed quite a lot. Both times it looked fantastic, so I'm absolutely happy with my choice going forward.
Nice! glad you're happy with it. It's always brave taking on a new model without seeing anything in the metal first... I can now see why the launch marketing press car was first revealed in Mystic.
I hope i'm as happy with my Vanadium when it arrives. It's a pretty safe choice

Vanadium was my second choice. A colleague has a Cayenne PHEV in Vanadium and it looks great. I'd just had Volcano on my Macan Turbo, so wanted something other than a grey shade this time.

Reason behind UK transport / shipping delays. Today I was told that a ship left Emden and arrived at Sheerness. Something happened so the ship couldn’t discharge the cars. Ship transited to Northern Ireland and discharged the cars then sailed back to Emden.

So cars are in the wrong place and transport is in disarray hence dealers arranging their own collections from Sheerness.

Good thing to know is that apparently none will be able to get their car delivered before the global launch on the 26th. So hopefully the delay won’t matter in that sense.

Sounds a bit strange. How do they get cars from Northern Ireland to Sheerness now? Good luck with that 😂 . Future Way just arrived in Emden from Santander (usual tour is Emden - Sheerness - Dublin - Setubal - Santander) and luckily has not been in Northern Ireland for past 30 days  .

Ireland to Mainland By ship !

I’ve seen my car’s Kate Codes / Event Key and it’s saying leave Emden 15th June, enter Sheerness 18th, depart Sheerness 20th BUT at dealers 8th July. So 18 days to transport approx 90 miles. Seems to confirm the problem at Sheerness transport And hence dealers trying to arrange their own transport.

I‘ve agreed a part exchange for my Macan S and they have said they’ll stand by that through July if the car is delayed.

Glad that they will work with you to make it yours. Also pleased that you have at least three weeks “extra” to make sure that happens.

Many of us can not wait until you post about your “S” ownership experiences — especially while you are spiritedly driving it.

FunTCDriving. Many thanks but I’m changing my Macan S for a Base Coupe. I found the extra cost for less than 1 second acceleration a bit too much but also insurance is a significant cost. I see you have a Turbo Macan so will be very used to a ‘performance drive‘. When is yours scheduled ?

I've selected the S model and I am glad for that. As for the active ride possibility and also I did not want to regret to give so much money and then say "its lazy, i should have paid for the S one". I dont want to makee so many compromises when buying so expensive car. Also, my friend, a porsche instructor, alread had the base model for the weekend and the firs one he wrote me was "be glad you choose the S model and not the base one"...

This is obviously subjective, but coming from someone who will have three child seats installed in the rear, I would be stupid to buy an S or above purely for the extra performance. Paying an extra €20K for essentially the exact same build, excluding PTV and Active Ride, seems so far-fetched that it genuinely feels more like a testosterone-driven decision than a clever one.

My current build would have ended up at around €160K with Active Ride just by upgrading to the S, and at that point I probably would have just gone all the way to the Turbo. So I do understand your salesman saying, “be glad you chose the S” — but frankly, for what purpose exactly?

Not porsche sales man - porsche driving instructor.

when you buy car for such money, you would expect some performance, not only 0-100, but mainly 80-120... the base one does not have the push to pass button and therefore its also pointless to buy chrono packet.

anyway, I bought the S one mainly for the active ride suspension.

The Cayenne S is the faster and more sporty car full stop. Whether you need that performance is an absolute personal preference. I could have optioned less or pay more for the S. The base Cayenne will sit between Macan 4 and 4s and the Cayenne S will be closer to Taycan 4s. I have driven all three cars for many months. Push to pass is absolutely brilliant and makes a significant difference as compared to Macan 4s. Otherwise, Taycan didn’t feel much faster and the Macan 4s felt slightly more agile in the city. The base Macan 4 is plenty fast enough on B roads and motorways in UK have similar speed limit with much more subtle speed differences between cars.
From personal experience, the power gain from push to pass can be quite brutal and in slight bends you want both hands on the wheel - try to get GTS steering wheel with paddles for push to pass activation.

Based on your post I like to think you should option the sport sound. Didn't like it on Macan but sound is much better on Cayenne. I had brand new Panamera and Panamera hybrid loaners for longer holiday drives last year. The hybrid is the faster car but the base felt faster due to higher rpm on acceleration - not needed on hybrid due to supporting electric motor (probably sport + would have resulted in similar experience but ride comfort compromise on long distance family trip not really worth it). As for acceleration alone, Tesla 3 performance will show you the tale lights and much praised new BMW iX3 50 is slower than Cayenne base.

TM3 performance and iX3 are cars with absolutely different pricetag. That is what I spoke about - when you pay so much for a Porsche, you would probably expect something special. That is why I went for version with push to pass and active ride. I did not want to live in the situation when we pay soo much for base model and then say - hmm, but its almost the same as other much cheaper suvs. But honestly, in the beginng I also wanted to buy the base one. But then driving hundrets kms with Macan 4S I knew its perfect and I do not want something quite slower.

but its subjective, I do absolutely agree. Everyone can buy whatever he/she wants for their money :)
