So after becoming increasingly annoyed with lack of updates from my dealer i took matters into my own hands, and emailed Porsche customer support directly, advising them of my commission/ order number . and lo and behold this morning my Cayenne has magically appeared in my app.

Not sure why the dealer couldnt sort this , but just smacks of laziness and lack of customer care.

Anyhow, my Cayenne is now at Milestone 3 of 8 according to my app, so im now happy that progress is happening, but somehow even more annoyed with my dealer !!

Vehicle is expected into the UK between 14/09 & 23/09 :)

So if you're not getting info from your dealer, its worth an email direct to Porsche with your commission number !
I've had a similar experience with my dealer. I can get the updates but i always have to ask and for some reason they only ever want to fob me off with the bare minimum. I always push for more.
Anyway, have taken your approach and emailed direct. I waited the 5 days for "document verification" within the app. 5 days is long enough when my delivery is supposed to be only 17 days away(looks like we could be on the same boat into the UK)

Matt. Crap dealer compared to mine. What documentation docs did you provide - when I was getting the message it looked like proof of ownership not just an order. Really frustrating that they haven’t got TYD sorted for initial orders in the UK. If your not putting a private plate on, then at least you’ll get a 76 one.

I placed my UK order about a month ago and have a TYD on the app. I was an existing owner so didn't require verification. My dealer sorted as part of placing order. Car due in November.

This only happens if you choose to delete assigned car or email addresses on file do not match. Indeed, this is carried out by dealer. New orders after official release have TYD.

It requested proof of ID (Photo of Driving License) and i don't remember exactly the wording but i did get the impression that Proof of Order would be sufficient. Uploaded the signed Order/Contract PDF. Still hasnt been verified.
My dealer did respond saying that the car needs to show "out of production" on their internal system before App access/tracking is possible. I'm not convinced.
Hopefully by Tuesday something will have happened.

From recollection, it worked straight away with VIN. No verification needed. They cross reference the registered email for app and dealer communication. Got false alarm for very, very early delivery. Provided VIN turned out to be for Cayenne Coupe with combustion engine. I was asked for proof of order as emails clearly didn't match.

Without TYD, you really don't miss anything. Just make sure you register car on app 1-2 days before handover and enable all settings. Sometimes you will not have reception during handover - hand shake get much more cumbersome. Also, as others pointed out, make sure you mark your key and leave other key outside during handover. My handover was very rushed (3rd in 12 months so couldn't care less) as this was first for dealer and they had some difficulties to install tracker. I was lucky, information coded to correct key.

Yes, It did work straight away with VIN. However, i also briefly received an error message, which convinced me something wasn't quite right. I removed the car and re-added the VIN, hoping to fix the "error". This time the Proof of ID and Order/Ownership was requested.
Oh well! not long to wait now. Hopefully customer services will add the car to My Porsche account and the app will spring into life sometime next week. I'll continue to pester my dealer in the meantime.

Regarding the tracker. Did i read somewhere on here that this is a dealer installed option, at extra cost?

Tracker is a dealer fit and then you separately take out an annual or 3 year subscription with Vodafone.

You are experiencing exactly the same problem I did with lack of TYD. Initially put the new car in with the vin, car appears, even in the correct colour and options are confirmed. Then delete the car in case it prevents TYD appearing then get the requirement for the docs.
After build the dealer tracked every day and then told me the ship it was going on so I could follow that.

Adding the tracker (PVTS+) requires activation which you should be able to do via My Porsche app and the Porsche Connect store where you purchase the car security package subscription. No dealer visit is a strong possibility. Your mobile phone and keyfob become the key ADR (Automatic Driver Recognition) checks for authorised usage of the car.

Historically the process on other Porsches was manumatic but these days it should be integrated into the PCM making self activation possible. Historically, on older models 2 Driver Cards were supplied with each car delivered and required pairing to the PVTS tracker box.

If Driver Cards are no longer required then finally the system is more usable negating the need to always carry the card around (and maintain the battery).

Ahh very good! i think i misunderstood an earlier post. This is the same Tracker arrangement as with my Taycan, Macan and previous Cayenne

Yes, thanks for confirming. I incorrectly got the impression that Porsche had removed the PVTS+ and customers had to request a tracker separately.

Matt. It appears that possibly there are two different trackers being talked about here. In my case it has nothing whatsoever to do with Porsche Connect or Porsche store and is activated by Vodafone when you pay the subscription.

The tracker in my Cayenne is similar to the one fitted in my Macan - it is a Vodafone tracker which has to be fitted by the dealer and uses a totally separate App to control it - My Connected Vehicle. I paid the dealer £750 to supply and fit and Vodafone £ 239 for 1 year subscription.

The tracker is fitted in a way that means it cannot be transferred to another car, so I couldn't transfer from my Macan to the Cayenne. Vodafone di credit the unused subscription, as did the wheel & tyre insurance.

Unfortunately you have to carry the fob - if you don't then the car will not engage forward or reverse and puts up a warning like "System Failure" . In the Macan I received a text asking if the car had been stolen which you reply no to, you could continue driving the car.
