It certainly appeared so when I saw the iX5. The rear seats are OK, but they're not cavernous, which is what I thought when I saw the Cayenne.@Throb do you mean the iX5 has less interior space than the Cayenne? I did not expect that. Any comments about the interior quality conpared to the Cayenne?
Missed this bit.@Throb Any comments about the interior quality conpared to the Cayenne?
Yeah I read one were it was compared with the Mercedes GLC and despite the Merc claiming almost 100 miles less of range the actual range difference was something like 20 miles or so. The BMW still offered more just no where near as great as expected, I’m sure some people will be able to get over 400 miles at times and in the right situations but most will be disappointed if they are expecting the claimed 500.I’ve read a few reviews of the latest BM’s and they all seem to indicate the real world range to be well short of the WLTP whereas Porsche seems to use something far nearer. The BM range isn’t poor by any means but not streets ahead as the WLTP range gives them. E.g. What Car review of the iX3 over a 600 mile road trip gave a real range of 393 rather than the WLTP 500 miles. They only achieved a consumption of 3.2 miles / kw.
I reckon no one can base their experience with the iX3 as to how the new iX5 will drive because they aren’t even based on the same chassis. The real concern for me at least is the size of the battery, that means the weight will be significantly more than rivals like the Cayenne, that might not concern you if range is key in your thinking but if not then handling and a sporty drive are both going to suffer because of this weight.
I am completely amazed how good the Cayenne S is, no SUV should handle and drive this well and want you want return frankly amazing consumption, it’s currently only 13 degree here and I’m seeing every day 3.2miles/KW on short runs where the battery isn’t even getting to optimum operating temperature.
I think any EV SUV is going to have a hard time beating this and that includes the iX5, at least with it consumers have multiple choices of how it’s powered.
I just watched a pros and cons video on the upcoming IX5 that puts the estimated range at 450 miles due to the increased size and weight from the IX3.Yeah I read one were it was compared with the Mercedes GLC and despite the Merc claiming almost 100 miles less of range the actual range difference was something like 20 miles or so. I've owned two BMW EVs (i5 and iX3), and I'm about to take delivery of my fourth Porsche EV, and the Porsches have always been much further from WLTP than the BMWs.I’ve read a few reviews of the latest BM’s and they all seem to indicate the real world range to be well short of the WLTP whereas Porsche seems to use something far nearer.
