The son drove 380 miles in my Cayenne S and it averaged 3.2miles/KW, based on its useable battery size that should equal about 345 miles which is closer to the claimed.
When you say he drove 380 miles, you surely don't mean on one charge?

Kyle from Out of Spec drove a base Cayenne with the smallest aero wheels until the battery drained and the car couldn't move any more, at a constant 70 mph, and he only achieved 345 miles.

You are taking it to the next level. For Netherlands you need to provide time of day 😇. I am closer to Venlo, 20 kmh less during daytime on highways.

He charged in Penrith somewhere and that was it. I don’t know if the base model is more or less efficient than the S version, I do know one of not both electric motors are different.

Always at night, usually setting off around 2300 to midnight, so I'm not subject to the 100 km/h limit or much traffic. Whenever I've done the test, I never have had to take the car off cruise, other than to turn around and loop back the other direction. so it's 99.9% at a constant 120 km/h.

I'm near Maastricht.

Officially, the S has a higher WLTP range than the base model (405 miles v 399 miles).

If you're getting a figure of 3.2 kWh/mile purely from the trip computer, you shouldn't trust it 100%. Based on my data, most cars overestimate the consumption to some degree. Looking at the numbers for my Macan Turbo, it was consistently overestimating the efficiency.

But even if 345 miles is more like 320 in reality, I still think that's good.

Genuinely don’t know what the true range is on the Cayenne S, might be 340, might be less, might be more but I doubt it will get close to what the GLC is in a recent comparison between it the iX3, EX60 and Tesla Model Y. 😱

That was very unexpected by me and as all car where driven side by side it’s probably the most accurate comparison we have of a real world test on these cars.

I see the configurator for the iX5 is online, it's pretty close to the Cayenne I must say. I configured a Cayennne S and a comparable iX5, a rough comparison of course since not all options are comparable, and it's 157k for the Cayenne S vs. 146k for the iX5 60 M sport. That's closer than I expected!
I will look at the iX5 as well when I decide to say bye to my I-Pace, but I just can't get used to the inteior design :(

I love the Cayenne but probably if I had had the choice instead of having to jump I probably would have went for the BMW purely because IMO its tech is better and in my experience worked faultlessly. But without a doubt it won’t drive as well if you intend to throw it down a back road.

Understandable, everyone has other priorities. Tech was always low on my list, I wouldn't have bought a Lexus or I-Pace otherwise (technically retarded vehicles) :)
It's difficult to get a feeling for it during a relatively short test, but I really was impressed with what they did in the Cayenne. It's great, for a Porsche.

I currently have an iX3 (arrived about three months ago), and I went to the dealer launch of the iX5, but if I was choosing between the iX5 60 M Sport and the Cayenne S, it would be the Porsche all day long. In fact, I'm surprised the price difference is so small.

Maybe it is in the USA but I built the iX5M60 on the UK site with similar spec to my Cayenne S and it’s £23K less.

Massive difference on the monthly payments on Business Contract Hire between the two in the UK as well.

BMW always had the better lease deals here in NL as well.

@Luminated67 can you share the iX5 and Cayenne S configs you made? That's a big difference.

Sorry, it's my fault for not quoting "mirto" directly. I'm responding to the post from them in the NL where they specify the prices of their spec. I'm surprised they're that close.

Like I say, having sat in the iX5 in a fully loaded configuration with the full leather etc, it still doesn't feel anywhere close to the Porsche in terms of a "premium" feel or quality.

Take my comparison with a grain of salt obviously, it's just what I think were comparable specs. I just expected a bigger difference, since it's Porsche etc.
If I were to properly spec a Cayenne S based on my own preferences, it's about 176k euros :)
