Hi

Has anyone else noticed that Porsche’s official marketing videos for the new Cayenne EV (especially the Coupe) frequently show the powered/electric door opening and closing function, but the option no longer appears in either the Coupe or standard Cayenne EV configurator?

I’m pretty sure I saw this feature listed in the configurator back in February, which makes this even more confusing.

I’d really like to spec this option, so I’m wondering if anyone knows what happened:

  • Was it removed due to supply/production issues?
  • Delayed to a later model year?
  • Market-specific restriction?
  • Or was it shown in early marketing before final options were locked in?

It just seems strange that Porsche is actively showcasing the feature in promotional material while customers currently can’t configure it.

Has anyone asked their dealer or heard anything about this?

Thank you !

Yeah, I can't seem to find it too. Was tempted to spec the electric doors but decided to pass.

I can't imagine opening the door and waiting 1–2 seconds for it to swing out... and then having to consciously not grab the door to pull it shut, and instead activate it and wait another 2 secs for it to auto-close. Muscle memory override isn't worth it. Manual seems more natural and faster

I wrote on a different thread - I have been told by the dealer that the electric doors and massage seats may become available but not until Q3, if at all. They double checked before I ordered yesterday. In terms of the doors they haven't been given a reason. It must be a bit embarrassing for Porsche as some of the early press cars had it. But I noticed the later You Tube reviews don’t mention the option which I assume means their demos didn’t have it.

Was the option priced when it was available .

Sad to say, I would have taken that £ 1,600 option up just as a novelty factor

I did spec them when I submitted my original order but they were removed when it came to finalise it. My local dealer didn’t know why. (uk)

I hope they return as my wife’s right elbow hurts her to use when getting out; they would be an option for us.

For what it's worth, I have the automatic door option on my BMW i7, and it works pretty well. It responds almost instantly upon pressing the door open/close button. Honestly, it is one of the most underrated features and it will be missed when we switch from the i7 to the Cayenne.

According to Derek Bonzagni who had a Porsche rep bring a Algarve Turbo to special Porsche gathering, the Porsche rep confirmed that the 2027 Cayenne EV’s will have both 14 way message seats and electro opening doors as options. Not addressed in the video by in the comments Q&A section of this video.

My UK dealer said when they were in Spain for the dealer ‘launch’ they may be available in 3rd Qtr this year which is 2027 model. Seems really strange that the initial Porsche marketing said the massage seats would be a new generation. They provided press cars with the doors but didn’t make them available. Apologies for the lengthy extracts below but I have had massage seats in my last 4 cars and will really miss it due an issue with my hips and spine.
The full 45 page press release which is really a very detailed brochure is here.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/dam/jc...0Cayenne%20Coupé%20Electric_EN_V05-ld.pdf.PDF

The press release said this about the massage seats-
This is all complemented by a new surface heating system, new massage functions. There are up to nine different Mood Modes to choose from: Dynamic, Relaxation, Travel, Entertainment, Urban and Focus are always available. In combination with the optional massage function, the wellness modes River Journey, Summer Dream and Thermal Spring are also available.

Porsche has also significantly expanded the available massage functions. Now, 16 air cushions with increased stroke in the driver and front passenger seats provide an improved depth and extend the pressure massage to the seat cushion areas. For the first time, a special vibration massage is possible, with two actuators in the cushion and four in the backrest. A total of five multi-level massage programmes are available to choose

Will the 2027 message seats also for the first time become available for the 18-ways? According to this video, @ 3:50, he says so and the quick screen print of the seat buttons shows a message center button on the most rearward one. If that is true, the long term debate of whether to only get the message function with the 14 way seats, having to heretofore sacrifice the 18 way more-supportive seats would no longer be an issue.

OMG you're killing me guys! Massaging seats and PTS were the only missing options I would tick. My order hasn't locked so now what do I do :headbang:

If you compare the comfort seats in the EV & EV Coupe with those in the ICE you’ll see that the Cayenne EV’s are more aligned with sport seats. I wonder if that has created the issue as massage wasn’t and isn’t available on any sports seats.
