For some reason I am fine with the absurdly huge kidney grills on a pure BEV while I hate this trend on their other cars. ?
I was at a focus group for an new EV model being released to complete with the Taycan and it's class.
The amount of details they go to understand what the potential buyer likes and hates is over the top.

I asked the person conducting the study how the BMW grill was green lit. He was baffled himself

I was always led to beieve it was done for the Chinese Market.

But then someone from China (on here?) came along and said it wasn't true as it divides opinion over there too.

That was me that made the statement .
I have no doubt its for the Chinese market. Big grills are an Asian focused design language.

I was telling a buddy of mine last night, that I do love the big grille on the new BMW. My wife has a '20 x6 50i, which slighter small grill, but the new ones on the i4, 4 series looks great.

You should let BMW design department know.....

They have been desperately scouring the world looking for someone who prefers the big grill, before they all get sacked.

I actually traded in my Taycan 4S for an i4 M50.

Is the Taycan a better sportscar? Absolutely. Are the overall materials nicer? Yes, although the i4 is quite nice at the pricepoint.

But.. the i4 M50 is really nice to drive, more comfortable than the Taycan, and the technology is worlds better.

I also had a number of quality issues on my Taycan but, so far, the i4 has been perfect.

I'll do a longer breakdown next week but I'd absolutely recommend checking out an i4 M50 before buying a Taycan. It's a more livable car with better tech, excellent comfort, a nicer size for city use, and more usable storage space.

I've also found the range on the i4 M50 on 19s to be slightly better than I was getting with my Taycan 4S on 20s. Very surprising.

I like the Taycan better, it's definitely a more "special" car, but the i4 M50 is really, really nice and almost half the price.

Yeah I read from a few sources now that BMW's horrible downward design trends have been heavily influenced by the Chinese market tastes.

Would be really nice if their tastes lost a lot of its influence in the luxury goods space ?

BMW has been doing a a fantastic job in modernizing their infotainment UX. Even their website is dazzling

There is rumours that a proper M EV is closer than we think and it will have not two, not three but four electric motors. If true it will probably be the one to beat though will probably be Taycan GTS price.

Sounds good - hopefully BMW can resist the call of the beaver teeth for that one.

If one can get over the hideous exterior, you still have to deal with awful seats, that ridiculous screen that looks like someone glued a massive iPad to the dash, and the numb steering of a BMW. I get why it’s a good option if one can’t afford the Porsche, but it’s a step down any way you cut it. The MMI is good though, if that’s what you’re into. I loved it in my M5.

I ended up looking at it before leavings the car and it had 219 Miles of range with 94% SOC. I was full throttle the entire time.

Range/efficiency is not something I usually focus on.
That’s almost the sme range that i’m getting it with my CT4 after uPdate.
As I wrote, few days ago, i talked with the guy who owns i4 and he said that his average consumprion is 16 kwh/100km (the lowest 12 kwh/100km).
