[North America] - FAQ: the ultimate guide to the Porsche EVSE PMC+/PMCC/PWCC

Porsche just did their WPU1 recall/fix/upgrade on my 2021 Porsche Mobile Charger. Currently I'm using a 3rd party charger at home and its working well but I do have the original fancy housing for the Porsche mobile charger. Q: Is there a downside to switching back to the Porsche charger (which...

"Porsche woes mount after botched bet on electric sports cars" - 4 articles

The Taycan is major achievement in automotive history IMO but Porsche created way, way too many models and flavors which necessitated setting the overall base price at, perhaps, 20% higher than it should have been … then all the options and more expensive models had to follow suit. Now there is...

    Taycan v Hyundai Ioniq 6

I'm a fan of the Citroen D21s. The Ioniq 6 reminds me of it.

"VET0ED - California Bill Would Electronically Cap Vehicle Speed to 10 MPH Over Limit" - Article

If this were to go into effect for 2027 models one things for sure: there would be a LOT of 2026 cars sold in California ... and I'd be buying one of them. Secondly, what about cars bought in other states and moved to California? Can't believe this could come to pass, esp. on this timeframe.

    BMW i4 M50

My wife loved her 2016 BMW 330i and our plan was replace w/ a new BMW, preferably electric, this year. Then we saw the new BMW front-end design at a local auto show. She took one look and said, "no way." Shortly thereafter started shopping for a Taycan.

Which EV-related stocks have you invested in?

I made the mistake of buy POAHY hoping that it would benefit from the Porsche IPO. Still may come around but at this point I wish I hadn't done it even though it pays a reliable 4% annual interest.

The grill was also a non-starter for me. Otherwise would have seriously consider this as my previous car was a 328i (excellent vehicle).

    U.S. EV charging issues

I certainly appreciate the challenge of dealing with more and more diverse vehicles. Seeing a line of cars waiting for a charge would prove that point. I've not observed that. Instead it often looks like EA units or storage structure simply wasn't designed to be busy on a regular basis. That...

    U.S. EV charging issues

So today went to a station near San Luis Obispo (100 mi. north of Santa Barbara). Four units, all more or less disabled. One which had previously been labeled 350 Kwh was now 150 Kwh. My Porsche app indicated that unit "04" was 50 Kwh although the pump was now marked 350 Kwh. Folks were calling...

    U.S. EV charging issues

Me too. On a recent trip to Monterey, CA there was only EA charger in the city (5 chargers in a Safeway parking lot). Of those, three were totally non-operational for me (Taycan) while I notice a Rivian charging w/out any difficulty at a fourth. I can imagine the discussion at EA when they...

Will you test drive the Mercedes EQS?

Saw this car getting charged up just north of Santa Barbara ... had special dealer plates from Michigan ... very impressive looking in person. Large vehicle. Definitely makes a statement ... very Mercedes.
