Wireless Phone Charging Doesn't Work (Cayenne S EV)

I just took delivery of a 2026 Cayenne S Electric. Love the vehicle overall but was disappointed to find that wireless charging doesn't work reliably. When I put the phone the charging pad, I get an "Wireless charging not possible" error. This happens even when the car is stationary and the phone hasn't shifted position. I got the same error with two different phones (iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro Max), and neither of them have cases.

To be fair, I have the same issue in our 2024 BMW iX xDrive50 (previous EV), 2025 Defender X, and 2025 Ford F-250. Just seems like wireless charging is hard to get right for whatever reason. I hoped that the new Cayenne would be better, but I guess not.

I had hoped the MagSafe in the Porsche would be better but it appears not from what you are saying.

Unfortunately it's worse than the BMW and LR Defender. In those cases, it's intermittent, but at least it sometimes works. In the Cayenne, almost immediately after placing the phone on the pad, this error pops up and charging stops. I guess I'll just get a short USB-C cable.

I have the iPhone 17 Pro Max with apple case. I do get error message at times but most of the time due to some other items in the compartment dislodging the iPhone. I would say, it's one of the better solution for hidden compartment.

Wow, surprised to hear this. I've tried with both Pro Max 17 and Pro Max 18 and cannot get it to work for more than a few minutes before I see that error message, even when the vehicle is stationary.

Strange, not sure if @Wivenhoe or @Moheisen(FirstEV) use an iPhone but they haven't mentioned any problems. Maybe there is a problem with MagSafe on yours. Would try it without cover just to test.

I guess I'll contact Porsche service. I don't use a case on my phones, and both the 17 Pro Max and 18 Pro Max (brand new) have the same issue. Neither have any trouble charging with other MagSafe chargers. It's definitely the car.
