I am trying to gather as much input as possible; have not yet decided whether to option the hugely expensive PAR option on our 2027 Cayenne EV. Not even sure whether we will order an “S” or the Turbo. However if I to get either I would spec RWS and if the S, I would also order the non-standard PTSV+. Our Macan EV Turbo handles incredibly well including on the curviest mountain roads at +8/10”s; while as you know PAR is not on option for it, it has both RWS and PSTV+ as standard components.
Looking at the bigger picture, most automedia reviewers rave about Porsche Active Ride, talking about it lessening road irregularity, reducing the perceived weight of the vehicle, and so many more positive comments. The overall AI conclusion is extremely pro PAR. I also have noted some of you have decided to include it in your order.
YET???
There are at least the following inputs that suggest that the “S” model would be very good without PAR. Maybe a Turbo model without it too???
1. A post by a fellow forum member saying that pushing it at + 8/10’s on his Taycan, it does not inspires handling confidence.
2. Thomas & Lea @Autogefuhl in their major Cayenne comparative driving video concluded that at least if they were buying one, it would not have PAR.
3. Car and Driver’s review (nicely linked here earlier by a forum member), stated, “Even the mid-tier 657-hp Cayenne S Coupe Electric we drove, which wasn't equipped with Porsche Active Ride suspension, kept its hulking mass flat around corners. It's a breathtakingly rapid machine, capable of bullying far less practical sports cars on the autobahn in its higher trims.
4. Of the dealership ordered “S” ones in the U.S., though they might mostly be Launch edition models that Porsche might well have a determining hand in whether PAR was included or not, as of minutes ago of the 22 “S” models listed, only two (2) had the PAR option; conversely for the Turbo model of the 90 ones listed, almost every single one had PAR.
5. Britain’s CAR magazine video reviewer ) at 8:15 in it, made it clear why he personally likes the Cayenne EV without PAR, stating that it without, the handling is “more organic and authentic.”
6. Then again Edmunds praises both with and without PAR, noting “With both the standard setup and the optional Active Ride suspension, the Cayenne Electric exhibited huge grip and poise over rough roads, and even tackled some extreme terrain in an off-road course without fuss.”
