I’ve been told that due to the production line being shared with ICE’s, thus cars virtually being produced to order, that no discounts are generally available.

Seems they learnt from the Macan EV, that building to keep the production line efficient rather than satisfying the true needs of the market and sales, led to overproduction and dealers being left with unsold cars. Would be interested to see if anyone in the UK has received a discount of list, rather than the odd dealer fit

I'd image it might be different for LHD vehicles but I got a flat 5% without asking (rolled out of the printer with a 5% discount) and after negotiations I ended up with just under 10% off the configurator price. This is in Belgium and bought outright. (No finance, no lease)

Regardless of brand I've never ever bought a brand new car for full msrp. The only "regular" production car I know of that you really won't get a discount on are G-wagons.

How does the price compare to other countries are they cheaper or more expensive?

EU is much more expensive than the UK and US. Our base prices are about 15-20% more expensive.
That isn't true.

That’s a big difference…..that could be a plus for Brexit 😂
But it's not actually true. Add the fact that discounts of 8-10% are readily available on the continent, whereas in the UK they're harder to come by, makes the prices close.

This is without a doubt true. The base Cayenne is around 20% more expensive in Sweden than in the UK, and the UK and US configurators even include some features as standard that are paid options in Europe. Check the configurator yourself.

After Porsche repurchased my faulty Macan EV following 18 months of issues, with the General Agent in Sweden involved, I received a 6% discount. I was also told that 3% is currently the maximum discount on the Cayenne, depending on sales, another dealership I have a relationship with confirmed no discount before launch and that it was dependent on future sales.

Now, are there outliers, maybe. Customers in the UK, however, are getting discounts of up to 10%. So even if what you said is correct, the overall price gap is still around the same.

You said "the EU is much more expensive than the UK", and you quoted figures of 15-20% higher. This isn't true.

Checking various EU countries, such as Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, will show you this.

Luxembourg, for example:

Base price Lux: €104,190 (based on the current mid-market rate, this is £88,769).

Base price UK: £83,200.

Price difference: 6.7%

That's not "15-20%".

As for some options being standard in the UK...there are a few, but nothing of any major value.

From my experience in France, discounts really depend on the dealership.

I live in Paris and have bought several Porsches. All Porsche Centres in Paris and the surrounding area are owned by Porsche France, and in my case they wouldn’t even offer the floor mats. My impression is that they have very little flexibility, probably because they don’t want to undercut independent dealers.

I finally got a much better deal by buying from a dealership further away from Paris, where they seemed free to apply their own commercial policy.

Also, after repeated delivery delays, I managed to get a goodwill compensation from Porsche France. So if your delivery is significantly delayed, it may be worth contacting Porsche Customer Relations locally, not only your dealer.

It would be interesting to know how the dealer is paid …is it so much per vehicle plus extra for the extras put on the vehicle or is a flat rate per car ….are they able to offer bigger discounts due to the amount of extras added to the basic car ….does anyone know?

You've chosen the one EU country with the lowest VAT and one of the smallest markets. That's hardly representative of the EU as a whole. If you're trying to demonstrate average EU pricing, Luxembourg is probably the weakest example you could pick. Nevertheless, If you do an average of all the price increases for the major markets you will at least find yourself between a 10-15% difference and that is conservative numbers.
