Hi guys,

I have just stepped out of a loaner Cayenne EV that I spent 2+ hours driving specifically to try out the comfort of the seats (I had a surprisingly bad experience with our 18 ways seats in our taycan turbo gen 1. We had to sell the car because of back pain on long road trips. So I want to make sure the seats work here).

Unfortunately, the only car I could get from the dealer was equipped with the 18 ways sports seat, so I wasn’t able to try out the 14 ways comfort seat I will want to go for.

I didn’t get any back pain from the ride (great news) but still found the seats pretty “hard”. Not the most comfortable feeling (to my specific taste, that is), and with occasional need to slightly change position.

For those who were able to try both, are the comfort seats sensibly the same than sport seats minus the thigh width adjustment ? Or do they provide more cushioning?

Thanks 🙏

Not able to try the 14 way as all the demo cars the dealer had were 18 way but I have ordered 14 way as I wanted the race tex pepita trim and it only comes with the 14 way seats. We shall see.

14-way seats are very comfortable. They are also significantly bigger than in the Macan or Taycan for some reason, as in the previous-gen Cayenne. Go for the 14-way seats and add massaging seats if the option is available. It might help with your back pain as well.

I am not sure if they have released the option for you to go full leather but have Pepita textile seats. That would be a choice I would have chosen myself when I ordered, but it wasn't available. This would be the best comfort option for you, as the textile is only on the middle inserts of the seat and therefore you will have optimal comfort but retain the “leather” luxury quality around the car and on the other parts of the seat.

Be mindful that in the 18-way Sports Seats you can't adjust the headrest (14-way & 8-way you can) - adjustment is in / out.

Sports seats will have elevante side bolsters and back rests which some people like / some don't.

Personally, I would go 14-way for comfort as the name suggests but ideal if you can try both somehow or other.

14 way seems to be a safe bet for Cayenne EV (a few long distance trips without problems, haven't heard anything bad) but for those pushing the Turbo to the limit in corners they may not be adequate. Sport seats in Macan EV worked for me (head rest). Personally I didn't like the comfort seats in previous Cayenne and hated previous gen GLE. Current GLE was just fine.

Seats are so important and unfortunately do change between models and generations. Personally I would choose the more comfortable one. Missing out in a few faster corners vs discomfort on longer drives.
