BMW XM, BMW X5, Cayenne Coupe S EV on order
Country flag
Hi folks,

First post here - Just ordered a Cayenne S Coupe EV.

Porsche code is https://porsche-code.com/PTLXD1K5

I saw the identical car in my local dealership and fell in love with it.

The showroom car doesn't have HUD so I added that as having had it in BMWs for many years, it is something I couldn't not have in a car now.

Currently in a BMW XM which I love but the Contract Hire renewal quote for a third year was ridiculously more than I'm currently paying so jumped ship to Porsche.

Got a build slot for 1st week in September which I was very surprised about.

Cheers

I have it on the XM and find that the interventions that it makes are downright scary! I would rather have control of the car.

I think you need to consider whether it will be the optional Drive Assist or the lane departure that causes that. Lane Departure is required on all cars but can be easily turned off.

I did the same for my Cayenne Coupe (no driver assist), yes for the HUD.

On the BMW it is definitely Drive Assist. I have all the other aids (or hindrances!) switched off or on their lowest settings.

Understood. I find the Porsche Drive Assist system to be fine - I had it in my previous car and it was similar. I do set the level of warning to the minimum. It's too expensive to buy and then have to turn it off !

For some very strange reason they have stopped offering the option on the Macan in the US.

Lovely spec. I have also ordered the Coupe S, but could not stretch to the extensive option list that you have! I had previously ordered a base SUV in Jan, but there was no sign of a build slot,. So I switched to the Coupe and was also pleasantly surprised to get a Sept slot when I cancelled the base and switched.

I have it on the BMW and it scrubs the rear tyres something rotten. It won’t ever go on the track so I didn’t see the point

We have RAS on our Macan EV Turbo, and we often travel spiritedly down curvy country roads. No wear on rear tires other than expected (and consistent with the fronts). Porsche’s RAS works extremely well.

The S is 5,699 pounds. RAS will make it more fun to drive in the twisties.

I wouldn't be without it in the Cayenne. I didn't have it on the Macan and the Cayenne has a tighter turning circle so more maneuverable.

Well I wish I hadn't signed up for this place - you lot are trying to make me spend more money! ;)

Just had a quick Google: XM turning circle with rws as standard: 12.5m. Cayenne without RAS: 12.7m without. 11.6m with.

As I have never had a Porsche before and I have blown the budget already I think I will enjoy driving it with or without RAS.👍

I had/have RAS on both, Macan and Cayenne. On Macan it contributed to hot hatch feeling but not really necessary except for very few occasion. On Cayenne, I noticed RAS quite a lot. Haven't driven one without but I think it's one of the more desirable options.
