Can't speak for the NA market but here in Europe I know very few people who ever cross shopped between a Cayenne and an X5 (or a Q7, GLE, RRS etc.)
yeah Gemini got that wrong!Yes I see, the pricing of the iX5 in the US makes it very attractive. In Europe it would be the opposite, the iX5 would be a harder sell. The X5 cannot compete with Porsche in driving dynamics and fit&finish.
I wonder why the price discrepancy is so big between US and Europe.
@ocflyer I don't think any Cayenne EV has a single motor version.
The pricing mentioned above is US-specific, the iX5 is produced in the US so no tarriffs and the US doesn't have a national sales tax (VAT in the EU), MSRP is also always advertised excl. sales tax compared to pricing generally being VAT inclusive over here.Yes I see, the pricing of the iX5 in the US makes it very attractive. Since the base Porsche isn’t single motor I don’t trust this analysis.OK so I transferred my 4S configuration to the base Cayenne, and it dropped in price from $144k to $127k (US pricing). Then I re-uploaded and asked for an AI comparision...
This new configuration sheet for the base 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric brings the numbers into direct contrast with the newly debuted 2027 BMW iX5 60 xDrive.
Your Cayenne Electric build has an exact total MSRP of $127,280, keeping the identical $15,930 options package (Oak Green Metallic Neo, 21" RS Spyder wheels, 14-way seats, rear-axle steering, and premium glass/audio) on top of Porsche’s base $109,000 single-motor chassis.
The final production specifications from BMW’s recent world premiere reveal that the value-for-performance gap here is massive.

The Technology & Value Verdict
- The Powertrain Gap: At $127k, the Cayenne Electric is a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive vehicle. For nearly $42,000 less, the BMW iX5 60 instantly gives you standard all-wheel drive and dual electric motors.
- The Acceleration Reality: The Cayenne base model handles 0–60 mph in a swift 4.5 seconds. However, when you use Launch Control in the BMW iX5 60, the torque pre-loading combined with its 578 continuous horsepower drops that sprint into the high-3-second bracket (~3.8s). It will feel dramatically punchier, particularly during rolling mid-range freeway acceleration.
- The Battery Cushion: Porsche's 113 kWh battery pack is highly efficient for its size, but it cannot compete with raw capacity. BMW’s massive 144 kWh reservoir delivers an official 435 miles of EPA range, giving you a massive 100+ mile extra safety net on long road trips.
To match the high-end luxuries you optioned on the Porsche—like the 14-way multi-contour memory seats, matrix LEDs, and advanced driving assistance—you only need to add BMW's single Executive Package to the iX5 60. Things like the panoramic glass roof, premium audio, and 4-zone climate control are already standard on the BMW "60" tier.
By choosing the BMW iX5 60, you are walking away with a standard AWD dual-motor configuration, supercar-adjacent launch times, and class-leading range, all while keeping $41,530 in your bank account compared to the single-motor base Porsche.
