Would you stick with Porsche?

There are so many new EV coming out with very cool concept. The EQG from Mercedes, Polestar 4, Lotus Eletre, and even the Cadillac Lyriq. Looks are subjective but I think these cars do look pretty cool and futuristic. I love the way my Taycan drives and the way it looks but some of these brands also know a thing or 2 about building cars. I feel like the electric car market is giving many automakers a second chance to rebrand themselves. Personally really looking forward to what Lotus will release after the Eletre and what the Polestar 4 will be like. Very curious to how many of us would consider trying other brands, especially ones that might offer more for your dollar on the surface.

Personally, I don't think any of the other options would interest me at the current time.

We are on the list for an electric Macan for the Mrs (when it's released) and at that time we will decide what to do with the Taycan (lifestyle dependant).
I will be completely open minded at the time.

I would be interested if BMW made the equivalent of an electric M2 in the future.

What I do find interesting, is the lack of new models and updates from Tesla.
They led the way, but in my view have been caught up by (and starting to be surpassed) by traditional car makers, who are busy introducing more new and better models at an ever increasing pace.
And as far as I can see they aren't really reacting or updating/developing models very quickly and they are starting to look dated.

The Porsche formula of engineering, design, and a sensory connection to driving is pretty addictive. If you place the highest value on the kinds of things they focus on, it’s really hard to find an alternative. If, on the other hand, you focus on value, technology and convenience, many other options start to come into play.

This is an exciting time in automotive history.

I’ve not even got my Taycan yet, so I will want some time enjoying the car and seeing how I feel. It’s my first Porsche, after tasting many other brands so it will be interesting.

I do like the look of the potential Polestar 5, which is a way off fruition, so that could be an option for me. Nothing else really interests me for my own car to be honest. Mercedes electric design language for their standard electric cars is horrible, BMW’s are a mess, Audi’s are ok but a bit bland (imo), and anything else also lacks that look or feel to get close to the Taycan.

The Taycan is the first Porsche that made it to the top of my short list, both 911 and Panamera have been on the list but not made it to the top.

I loathe and detest “SU”Vs which actually rules out a huge number of EVs.

I was looking for a quiet comfortable 4 seater with a good turn of speed when required and tried E-Tron GT and Taycan and was surprised how well the Cross Turismo fitted my requirements.

I am not aware of another car on the market today that would suit, and if I hadn’t ordered the Taycan I would have continued with what I already have.

We will almost def get a new electric Mini Cooper (S) when it arrives on 2024, hopefully sooner, simply because she is besotted with Mini’s , but I get it!

Other than that could not be happier with the Taycan as it is right now for all the reasons others have stated.

I'm loving the Tayan. It's amazing. But I think I'll move to a EV SUV for my next EV daily, maybe the Merc or Audi. My 69 911 will be restored by then so I'll have that to hoon about in. The boot size of the Taycan is a bit small for my main daily. Pain getting my roadie bike in and out.

I agree, Tesla is looking a little dated. I think they need to update their exterior designs in order for people to be excited for them again.

I do think the offering from Lotus will be interesting. Lotus has a bloodline of making sports cars just like Porsche. They are also known to have superior handling. Sure they were always the best quality given the price but it is interesting to see what their EV will be like. If Lotus can carry their design language and handling experience in an EV, then at least for me, Porsche will have some serious competition.

I actually don’t mind the SUV because sometimes it is nice to sit in a car with a lot of space. I love my Taycan but I also know in a few years I will be switching cars again. When that time comes, Porsche will have so much more competition especially given so many electric cars are at the 100-150k mark.

I would drive a BMW i4eDrive40 right now- that looks like a great car and good value. I also like the look of the Polestar 2 for my gf.
I think thats about it for serious options for myself.

Definitely exciting times coming up for EVs. To me the Taycan was the first EV I was really excited for. I'm happy with mine, though at times it does get annoying with having to bring it in for recalls and little fixes. It's honestly a great first attempt, all things considered.

While, I love the way the Taycan drives and the overall build quality, the software experience could be better, the recent update has improved on that a lot. The next generation of EVs is going to be interesting with the lessons learned from the current gen.

I did ask to be on the waitlist for the Macan EV and I have reservations for various other EVs / ICE (sports) cars. Not getting all of them, but, with the car market being what it is, you have to get in line 'just-in-case' and at least have the option to decide what I want. Porsche is the incumbent EV in the household, but that may change. So far me and wife have gotten pretty excited about Rivian as a future family mobile, so that may push the Taycan out for a 911 perhaps ?
