What sound will I get

I, for no real reason other than saving £480 did not spec the Sports Sound with my S. I am now wondering what sound effects I will get. My current BMW M50 has a ridiculous Star Wars type sound that I have had on once in three years. Does the Cayenne have both internal and external sound without the Sports Sound option?

No sounds whatsoever, except for the legally required EV sound that is played externally to pedestrians under 30 km/h. It’s the same one used on all Porsche EVs and hybrids. I didn’t spec it either because I’ve tried it on many Porsches and just find it annoying, but this is obviously subjective.

It may be my imagination, or maybe Cayenne having far better noise deadening, but the mandated sound is louder than I found it to be in the Macan EV. Not intrusive, but I asked if it could be turned down and the answer was a definite no.

The sound can be turned off (again other than the external below 30 km/h required predestination safety sound). I respectfully disagree, instead finding the sound on the Cayenne S much, much better — and much different than that produced by our Macan EV Turbo even when the latter is in Sports Plus mode. And also far better than the Hans Zimmer sounds our iX had — which we also found ridiculous.

Separately regarding the Cayenne Ev Turbo’s sound, we have heard within several auto-media videos that the Cayenne EV Turbo’s sound is even louder than the Cayenne EV S, more like an V8 emulation. It too to me sounds good (and way louder than everything in my Macan), And also able to be turned off easily.

Of course to each their own, yet IMO a test drive will be helpful before making that option ordering decision.

where it came in handy on the Taycan was when driven down the mount lanes where we live . Without it on people would be oblivious to the fact that you were even driven up behind them and would even side step out in the road infront of the car 🫪

Separately regarding the Cayenne Ev Turbo’s sound, we have heard within several auto-media videos that the Cayenne EV Turbo’s sound is even louder than the Cayenne EV S, more like an V8 emulation. It too to me sounds good (and way louder than everything in my Macan), And also able to be turned off easily.

The base and S models are based on a V6. The Turbo is based on a V8.

When I tested a base model, I was impressed with the sound, and in isolation thought it would be how the Turbo would sound.

A few weeks later, by chance, I was going into work when I noticed a Cayenne Turbo Electric demo from a local Porsche dealer was parked up. A few seconds later, after I'd turned my back, the driver set off extremely quickly, and from the noise, I genuinely thought a different, more exotic ICE car had accelerated away. It was LOUD, and sounded great. In fact, it's partly why a few weeks later I switched my order from a base model to a Turbo.

the sound option is (sorry!) fantastic ... i have it and i'm addicted to it. it's a very nice V8 rumble inside and outside. Is in fact a must have option in my POV.

Maybe I ask those that didn’t spec the sound, did you do it for the saving or are you not really wanting the sound that EVs make. BTW I can understand why you might not chose it as an i5M60 past owner it’s electronic noise wasn’t the best, but when the car is well north of £84K on a base model and a lot more with extras why for the sack of £480 not tick the box.

I when on to the Porsche website and listened to both the Sports and Sport Plus versions and they were among the best generated engine sounds. I currently drive mine on Sport all the time and occasionally Sport Plus which I never did on the BMW.
