To Include Porsche Active Ride Option On A Cayenne “S” or Turbo???

It’s not true that Porsche Active Ride is only used in Comfort mode. The system is active continuously, with its calibration changing depending on the selected drive mode. It controls each wheel individually to help keep the body as flat and stable as possible by reducing roll, pitch and dive.

The optional comfort functions, such as leaning into bends or pitching forward/backward under acceleration and braking, are separate selectable features. They are not the only purpose of Porsche Active Ride.

As shown in the chart above, Porsche Active Ride improves both ride comfort and handling, not just comfort mode behavior.

That all might be, I was only conveying what we have been told at the briefing; they were probably thinking 'out of these two models, it's only available on Turbo'. Statement was 'PAR is available only on Turbo'. I did notice the comfort part of PAR while in Comfort mode in Turbo. That being said, I didn't notice anything exceptional in Turbo compared to Base in Sport mode around the corners. Both handle this incredibly well for the size of the car. Maybe I should have push them even harder? Not sure. They were already way above what I expected from Cayenne.

Offering up my "2 cents", but first, some context. I have been driving Porsche's for 25 years now and as my most expensive and focused hobby, I trade into different Porsche vehicles almost annually. During that time, I have owned 7 911's, 4 Panameras, 5 Taycans, 3 Macans, 3 Cayennes. I am not listing this to brag (I promise), but to suggest that I have driven across the range of Porsches and with various objectives in mind over that period of time. Now that I am 65+ years of age, I am aiming much more towards comfort and luxury, while maintaining Porsche performance and quality than I was when younger and aiming much more towards sporty handling. Today I am driving a 2025 Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid that has PAR installed. I traded out of a 2025 Cayenne S E-Hybrid with the exceptional Adaptive Air Suspension.

All I can say is this: If you are looking for extreme luxurious riding comfort, that also inspires handling confidence through all types of driving dynamics, PAR is second to none in that category! I have never experienced any suspension that so perfectly balances comfort, insulation from road imperfections, sporty character and pure performance as I have with PAR. You can dial in what you want with the steering wheel selector and the range of selection feels far wider than Porsche's without it.

While many of the professional auto reviewers in the blogs, magazines, YouTube videos may suggest that PAR isn't "natural" feeling or unnecessary, none of them are living with the vehicle day-to-day, month-to-month, etc., nor have to drive it all the time over the widest range of road conditions, both with and without passengers. What I am suggesting is, that if you are acquiring a Cayenne for a daily driver that will be filling multiple roles from road tripping to work commuting to hauling families, etc., AND looking for comfort, coupled with performance, the Porsche Active Ride is true genius technology and well worth the price. Now that I have owned a Porsche with it, I will never be without it!

Thank you kwrudy123 for your thoughtful post two above. I did not read it as any ego on your part, but your long term Porsche experience. You made a really good point that quite a few video-journalists were experiencing PAR for the first or second time, and like the acclimation period needed for rear camera mirrors, adjusting can take more than a ride or two. Thank you.

Thanks for linking the newest Cayenne EV review. Interesting that of the two reviewers in the article, one was not keen on PAR, the other one said it added to the experience. I have just scheduled a test drive in an S without PAR but unfortunately it is not arriving at the dealership for two months. But at least I will be able to test that exact combination at some point — and as soon as I do I will post here. In the interim, hopefully others have been able to test and report here on an S without PAr

Like RAS, you will end up with divided opinions. Only way to be sure is to test-drive for a weekend or just go with your guts. Normal suspension is pretty good (excellent in fact) on 21 wheels. If you can live with your Macan, you would be very happy with your Cayenne in terms of comfort. Macan feels sportier (I would say by a fair margin from recollection) and I don't think PAR would change that.

My test drive will be on a very curvy country road that I have taken spiritedly about 40 times — lately driving at least twice a month; therefore thinking a singular, enthusiastically fast single drive will tell me what I need to know about its handling, coupled with the irregular pavement needed to get there and back to that road from the dealership will telll me about “comfort” without PAR. Wish it were tomorrow — not September. Again I hope that other members in the interim get to test and report back a similar “S” model without PAR.
