Scared to ask... anyone tempted by Model S Plaid?

The prereq's are needed to ensure you get the 'advertised' result on the drag strip and prep isn't uncommon if you race on the track, which ironically the Plaid is too fast for o_O

However, even without any prep, it's still going to be faster than the Turbo S.

Listen, you can hate the car because it's boring or for whatever other reasons, but we have to look at the performance achievements objectively.

You are not owning a Taycan and are surely not planning on buying one.
Besides sharing your love for Tesla, I don't think you have done anything besides that.

I know you and others might see this post as toxic, but after reading things like "the Tesla drives much better than the Taycan" I think you would fit better in a Tesla forum.

The Taycan has way more software issues than a Tesla. Can't even remember my map settings correctly.

Still wouldn't trade it for anything (sans maybe an Audi Etron GT). A model s plaid as a secondary car would be nice If they ever make a normal steering wheel.
But the Tesla has way more quality issues than the Taycan, can't even do a proper paint job!

Once you've reached 3.0 sec on 0-60 mph, does it really matter anymore? If you did a "taste test" and removed the speedometers, could you even be sure you'd know which car was faster, a car that did 0-60 in 2.5 vs 3.0? Sure, there may be a few people who take their cars to a runway and for that purpose, it matters. For the rest of us, you'll probably get more joy from deviated stitching than another 0.3 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Only reason 0.3 matters is if you're at a red light and the car next to you is that much faster.
For some, speed is relative to the car you're trying to beat and it's never fast enough.

A car is an emotional experience, a bond of human and machine.
0-60 is a very small component of that. Steering feel, handling, ride quality, materials, fit, finish, paint quality, lines and curves of the car, the thump of the door closing, tactile buttons, how your heart beats when you stare at the car are what matters.
What matters less is playing with the infotainment system and the mobile app. Those are important, but less to do with the feel of the car

Too fast for the track? What are you talking about? The roll cage thing? All that tells me is it’s not fit for purpose.

And makes me wonder what else it isn’t fit for.

Did I say something that offended you? Or worse, isn't factual? I try to post information which is objective, but I can understand people wanting to live in a bubble. Let's not regress to ad hominems.

I'll answer your question by saying that I like the Taycan, specifically its looks, and wanted to buy it. That's why I'm here, I read the forum in hopes of learning more about them. If Porsche changes some of the issues I have with the car, I will be an owner just like you. One can hope, right?

If that's my quote, then it's out of context. The accelerator pedal on a Tesla definitely has better feel in that it's smoother (no transmission), more linear and provides regen. That is a priority for me in a daily driver.

I find the opposite true for me. 2020 Model 3 to Taycan. Throttle is WAY smoother and more linear than my Tesla. I liked 1-pedal driving in the 3 but after almost a month with Taycan I enjoy the regen function more. I find the regen in the Taycan (went set to on) more efficient in slowing the vehicle in commuting traffic. I also love the ability to change regen on the fly with the steering wheel button.

What are you talking about, a Tesla doesn't have better "accelerator pedal feel" than a Taycan.

And if you care about regeneration the Porsche is better, with way higher charge power and (very well implemented) blended brakes.

If you want a far that looks like a Mondeo and drives like a very fast milk float, fine, but go and bother the bazingas at TMC instead.

That is where we have a great advantage here in Europe. If there should be an Ionity, Allego or Fastned or other HPC station beside Tesla, we just move over to it. It might be more expensive to charge but having the CCS2 connector makes the choice greater.

Now if we also could get the possibility to move the Taycan across to a Tesla Supercharger….. :like:
Aren't they all slow and require the 150kW option?

Paid SM advertising? Next time at least pretend you own a Taycan...
