Last night, I tried to charge my 2026 Cayenne Coupe Electric for the first time. The doors were unlocked, the car had comfort access enabled, but neither outside charger door would open when I touched the sensor area. I opened/closed the charger doors via the inside screens without problems. Thoughts?

I initially made the mistake of treating the 'square' as a button and prod it. I then saw a video showing just placing the hand over the 'square' - worked every time since.

I tried the hover technique a moment ago. It did not work for me. It must be a sensor issue. The dealership is looking into it for me. Unfortunately, they are 1000 miles away. If they cannot figure it out, I will bring it to the local dealer after I use the car for a few weeks in case other things pop up. All in all it is a fantastic car.

For now, I am using the inside center screen to open/close the charging port doors.

The Owner's manual implies you have to touch the sensor with your hand, when placed flat is that what you did?

I tried all variations of touching, hovering, touching different parts of the flap, touching the sensor while gently pushing down on the front portion of the flap. I remember when lots of people were worried about the Taycan swipe feature for the charging door. I never had a problem with it on my Taycan. I am sure that some one here or the service department will sort out the fix. Other than this, the Cayenne is awesome. It is first Cayenne we have owned that does not feel or drive like a suv when behind the wheel. The augmented reality HUD is so much better than the units in my previous cars from other manufacturers.

I’ll try the swipe gesture on my own charging port over the coming weeks and see how reliably it works. I honestly don’t understand who thought swiping was the best solution here. A simple push to open would do the job, wouldn’t it?

I didn’t order the HUD on my Cayenne Turbo. I’ve had it in all my other cars, but I’ve never really been a fan. I find it distracting while driving and always end up switching it off. Reading your comments about the augmented reality HUD, though, I hope I’m not missing out this time! 😅

The HUD on the Cayenne reminds me of 3D glasses. Unlike the units in my other cars, the positioning in the Cayenne feels like you are sitting above the information looking down at a 45 degree angle. The projection is super sharp, but not distracting. When using it with the car’s Google Maps, as you approach a turn, a floating blue arrow appears. As you get closer to the turn, more arrows appear and they start to float closer to you and grow larger in size as they point you in the direction of the turn. The gestures and animation are not flat and static in the Cayenne. I have used Waze in my cars. The integration with Google Maps with its better imagery vs Waze and the new HUD will push me to use the factory nav more than Waze on my phone. Of course for times when I’m pushing the right pedal, I will rely on my usual arsenal of the Valentine 1, and the Waze and Highway Radar apps.:like:

With my Turbo I think that the radar apps are really important in my case 🥺🥺
