After skimming that it seems the only method to handle SMS/text messages is via Carplay or Android Auto. Am I wrong here? I sure hope so!

I was under the impression the vehicle was using Android Automotive (not same as Android Auto) thus it would have seemless handling of mapping via Google with integration to charging information/preconditioning, along with hands free messaging and calls. When using Carplay or Android Auto there is no integration with charging/preconditioning.

The owner's manual confirms the Cayenne EV uses a 12-volt LiFePO4 lithium onboard supply battery... was expecting an AGM like the Macan EV which is running on PPE as well. (i do prefer AGM)

Why do you prefer AGM? LFP has a longer lifespan and is lighter and more compact thus allowing a bigger frunk.

LFP is more costly and can burn in an accident.

Am I the only one that cares about this?

You can have two navigation (Macan MY 25) running the same time. I use Porsche native and Waze. I don't use SMS but WhatsApp worked fine.
That's something but not as good because when running the native system you are using a superior external antenna unaffected by insulated windows, etc. Also, switching back and forth between systems is annoying. Yet another compromise for Porsche handling prowess!

My wifes Cadillac Lyriq uses full Android Automotive and it is perfect. It's actually a great car for the masses just not if one cares about handling.

I have the sound / insulated glass in my Macan and it doesn’t seem to interfere with the signal to my iPhone in the charger. In the Cayenne the ‘glass’ can be optioned to just the front windows and not the rear ones so that would eradicate any issue if there was one. I’ve gone with that as the rear are rarely used and it comes with privacy.

A friend's Taycan had its LFP battery fail within three years. Porsche Singapore quoted him around USD 4,500 for the replacement. I reckon that's enough to swap out 10+ AGM batteries from a third party shop with PIWIS coding. And unlike AGM, sourcing OEM LiFePO4 in Singapore isn't exactly straightforward.

Front windshield or all windows is the choice.

When in the charger the signal is boosted to use the inbuilt antenna.

From the manual:

Wireless Smartphone charging:

Depending on the country and equipment, the vehicle has a charging surface of 15 W or a MagSafe charging surface of 25 W. Just wonder which one we will get in UK.

Terrain in Offroad driving mode

Gravel/MudSuitable for driving on e.g. gravel, wet fields or muddy roads.
SandSuitable for driving e.g. in deep sand.
RocksSuitable for driving e.g. on very rough rocky terrain.

Gravel/mud seems useful, don't expect other modes to come in handy in London ;-).

Are you sure? Config looks like Wivenhoe said. Wonder if both, surface charging and MagSafe will have signal amplifier/booster.

Oops - I am indeed wrong (upon clicking into the option the description changes).

Pretty sure all recent Porsches have a signal booster when wired charging or wireless charging.

You would expect some sort of boost as you can close the charger on the Macan andI I think also the Cayenne EV ?
