I’m wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation with an early Cayenne Electric order.

For context, my order is for a base Cayenne Electric with a handful of custom options (not a heavily customized build).

Here’s my timeline:
  • Dec. 29, 2025: Order placed.
  • Feb. 17: Received the “Track Your Cayenne Electric” email from Porsche.
  • Mar. 15: Build locked.
  • Original estimated delivery: Around July 3, 2026.
  • Apr. 30: Tracker advanced to Milestone 4. No updates in the app since then.
I’ve been checking in with my dealer periodically. They initially told me the vehicle entered production at the end of May, but as of today there is still no VIN assigned.

More recently, the dealer said the vehicle has apparently been “pulled off” the production line, but they haven’t been given a reason. Their impression is that Porsche hasn’t been particularly transparent about what’s happening, which has been frustrating for them as well. At this point, they don’t have an updated ETA. Their best guess is that Porsche may be addressing software-related issues and is being more cautious after the rollout challenges with the Macan Electric, but they emphasized that’s speculation rather than confirmed information.

I’m curious whether anyone else with an early Cayenne Electric order has experienced something similar:

  • Has your build been stuck after Milestone 4?
  • Have you been told your vehicle was pulled from production?
  • Have you received a VIN yet, and if so, how long after production started?
I’m trying to determine whether this is an isolated case or something affecting a broader group of early builds. Any recent data points would be appreciated.

It’s very unusual for car to go into production without a VIN being available. Early orders in the UK didn’t / still don’t have access to TYD. In my case I ordered just before the freeze date on the 1st May, received the VIN on the 15th and car entered production on the 11th June. My order took one of the dealers allocation for a Coupe Base.

The car didn’t leave production until the 2nd July, so a bit longer than expected, dealer thought maybe a delay in wheels.

Mine was a very early launch-model Cayenne Turbo, and here was my timeline on TYD:
  1. Make your dream Porsche real: Nov 19, 2025
  2. Green light for production: Dec 17, 2025
  3. Geared up and ready: Feb 23, 2026
  4. Now the work can begin: Mar 19, 2026
  5. Ready for the road: May 23, 2026
  6. Papers ready: May 24, 2026
  7. Arrived at German port: May 26, 2026
  8. Set sail for America: Jun 5, 2026
  9. Arrived at a US port: Jul 6, 2026
It is currently at Benicia on a "Port handling - quality action" and "Certification" hold. My dealer says it is probably waiting for both (1) software updates and (2) final EPA/NHTSA certifications.

My base coupe has been in milestone 4 since June 22. No vin yet. I also have a 2027 911 T on order. The projected timeline for the 911 is 17 days from milestone 4 until milestone 5 according to the My Porsche app.

As for my order, I placed it back in February for a Cayenne Turbo, with an original delivery date of June 24.

I received the VIN in May, but the car has never actually entered production. Apparently, the issue is related to the availability of the 22" SportTechno wheels.

Since then, the delivery date has been pushed back again and again. The latest estimate is now around early October.

Personally, I think Porsche is hiding something. I suspect they're dealing with a more significant production issue than they're willing to admit.

If these delays continue, I may end up cancelling my order. By the time my car is delivered, the 2027 model year could already be announced with features such as massage seats, powered doors, Porsche E-Shift, and other improvements.

Secured allocation in March with ETA of mid September. Per update on yesterday, ETA is now late October with no "lock in" yet. Base model with options.

My dealer is said this "this is very unusual of Porsche and they are not being transparent." I do think Porsche is hiding production problem and its a possibility that version 1 of these cars will likely have problem. And this is what Porsche is trying to avoid. If Cayenne gets tainted like Lucid, their corporate will be hard to recover as they are already in financial troubles.

This is pure speculation at this point. We’ve already had multiple deliveries all over the country here in Sweden, and mine was actually the first one delivered by my dealership. I’ve had no warnings, no software issues, and not even a minor glitch. So far, everything has worked exactly as it should.
