Thomas @ Autogefühl and Lea say the Burmester is a “must,” their rating it before one should choose PAR.

Anyone else yet heard it? Able to yet compare it to the Bose? Or still too earlier for us to know?

I’m on the fence too. My spec comes with Bose, and I know audio is deeply subjective. Cayenne ICE owners are probably the best reference point… the Bose/Burmester implementation should carry over closely to the EV.

The opinions split every way: some say Bose is perfectly fine, some say Burmester isn’t worth the premium, and those who bought Burmester swear by it. Which really just proves how personal this is.

So I’m going with Bose. If it doesn’t satisfy, an aftermarket hi end speaker swap with a DSP will beat Burmester anyway for less money.

On the Macan EV forum there is a lot of debate, particularly about Bose speakers having to be ‘broken in‘. I think it may be as a result of owners who have not had an EV before, thus not experienced the quieter cabin and then growing accustomed to it and then thinking the Bose sounds improved.

I was lucky enough to listen to both audio systems during the Cayenne Electric in France presentation.

The Burmester system was fitted in a Turbo model, while the Bose system was in a standard model.

I should say right away that I’m not an audiophile or a sound expert. This is simply my personal feeling. But during the listening session, I honestly preferred the Bose system.

What stood out to me the most was the V8 simulation, with deep and very present bass. I found the sound more enjoyable and more lively with the Bose, at least for that type of listening.

Of course, this remains very subjective and probably depends on the settings, the environment, and everyone’s personal taste. But personally, between the two, I would rather go for the Bose.

I’ve listened to both. I sat in 2 similar vehicles in Porsche mid Sussex and played a fair amount of my own music through both a Bose system and the Burmeister.
again, I’m no audiophile but the Burmeister was head and shoulders better than the Bose.
we have the Bose in our Macan GTS EV (as my wife generally derives this and she’s not fussed as she mainly listens to radio 2 !) but I’ve specced the Burmeister in the Cayenne Turbo EV that is due to me late June.

I test drove the Cayenne Turbo this weekend and i agree with above feedback.
Bose system in cayenne ev turbo is much much better than in my taycan facelift 4S.
Really deep bass in combination with the V8 simulated sound (is crazy good - love it).

Bose is for me the way to go (in Turbo it's standard), if you have 5000 euro to spend extra, go for the Burm.

My cayenne turbo has been ordered with the Bose sound system.

I wouldn't worry too much. Base is likely good enough, Bose will have more pronounced bass and Burmeister will be more refined overall. Even if you notice some differences between Bose and Burmeister in direct comparison, you will get used to whatever you are choosing. For me it's just about if you want bigger bass or not. The listening experience of a cheapish 5k Burmeister will never be comparable to a good HiFi setup, even if you are sitting in your car at home in the garage. If you want the best listening experience in a car, get top range noise cancellation headphones and order an Uber.
