Agreed. Though their CEO does (expertly) send some snark to the less sophisticated designs of both Tesla and Porsche (mentioned in all but name) motors in their tech talk video from three years ago:
Huh? What "repurposed platform" is the Taycan supposed to be, given that it is only one of three platforms that are entirely unique to Porsche? The 911, 718 and Taycan are totally native platforms to Porsche. The Cayenne, Panamera and Macan are shared with Audi.
Such a bigger scale to Ireland!
Nearly all of our refined petroleum and gas products come directly from the UK. Unrefined products come from the US, Netherlands and indirectly from Norway.
Despite the madness of Brexit – we're grateful that the UK remains a reliable and rule-based trading...
The main reason the combustion Macan is discontinued in the European Union is because it fails to meet modern cyber security standards. The specifics – I'll admit – I have not read or studied.
I was focusing on the amount of electricity that is used today to produce, refine, transport and pump a litre of petrol. Not the amount of energy that is contained within the petrol itself that is produced or how it is utilised by an engine.
If a Taycan drives 100 km and a 911 drives 100 km –...
There is just so much "stuff" embedded in the cost of petroleum products. I remember reading that there is about 1.5 to 2.5 kWh of electricity used in the production of a litre of petrol.
My 911 Targa is using about 10 litres of petrol to move it 100 km. Which means there is about 25 kWh/100km...
That is disappointing to hear – I have been a bit of a "fan" of this eFuel research and approach. I had hoped that the EU decision to exempt cars running on synthetic fuel would give the research a focus and purpose...
Currently this is a non European only dilemma; as the petrol Macan is no longer available to purchase in the European Union.
Edit: just realised petrol version is still available in UK.
I've been wanting to pick up the Chronograph 1 for a while and with the recent move to a 911 Targa, now felt like the right time.
In a world of ever increasing chronograph watch sizes, it is nice that this still has a tidy 40mm case diameter.
Picked up this version new with a significant...
FFS. No excuse for driving impaired.
It's annoyingly increasing here in Ireland – despite being very socially unacceptable. With a notable increase in drug driving.
That article seems a bit trashy though - with mentions of "designer clothes" as if that changes anything?
Porsche appears to be trying to reduce their production volumes while keeping/growing their revenue.
Stiff competition should give them pause for thought here.
I dunno. I've walked down the renewed 911 assembly building – where they are currently building the hybrid variants and are fully ready for the electric 718 to go down the same line. It didn't feel like they weren't taking it seriously.
Same for the Taycan factory. Granted its on one shift a...
The difference between the Belgian and Dutch markets is amazing given how physically close and integrated the countries are.
I wonder what’s the main underlying reason?
What will be interesting is the research funding situation. Back in 2020-ish banks were being forced by their shareholders to step up "green" funding. Traditional car manufacturers were starting to see that it would be difficult to get capital to invest in ICE technologies. Hybrid was one way of...
