Yep, and same reply as 2024 and 2025Q1 in another thread.
Inconveniently, ex-China, that's -1% in a market which is single digits down in Europe and low single digits up in the US. So a non-argument.

Your thesis is a cheap repeat of GT-R & Corvette underdog fanboys.
Yet the 992 has never sold better, and the GT-R is gone. How is that possible if all that matters is price & specs ? It is a completely unserious line to hold.

And who is doing better in China ? Exactly nobody.
This market is lost. To consumers who have zero car culture and prize attributes that are antithetic to Europe and the US.

You like your GT4 and you cannot understand why ? You think your Xiaomi will handle as well as your Taycan on the Susten and Grimsel ?

Yes, we all know that the Cayenne market is the same as the 911 and GT-R and Crovette market, very strong arguments :)

Let's also ignore the complete lock down of USA car-market and pretend that if it were open, it wouldn't be taken over by chinese EVs :))

We all know that mega corportation and investors care deeply about "car culture" and not profits, right guys?

Cute

Yes :) if a Xiaomi can beat the top of the range taycan on the Nurburing , I think they can make a car that handles as well on the passes.

And when it comes to SUVs, how it handles is a lot less important, to the actual buyers of SUVs. And shockingly, Porsche doesn't have any advantage on EV platforms beside handling, which Xiaomi and Lucid already match, so I don't see what advantage they could have in an SUV to ask 4-5x the price.

For me, I'm considering between this Cayenne and the Rivian R1S.

No interior shots, but I'm hoping the drunk is larger than Macan's. Dimensions appears to be similar to ICE Cayenne. It's unclear if it's built on J1 or PPE platforms

The version here is likely the Turbo or Turbo S variant as I see the fake rear bumper vents similar to that of the j1.2 Taycan, and the wheel arches . There is also active aero on the front bumper similar to the 992.2 GTS and Turbo.

I'm also really liking the exterior styling mix with Taycan and Macan. While I initially disliked the DRL split from the beam lights that has been relocated to the bumper, this look has grown on me on the Macan. It's unclear how the DRL/Beam locations will be on this car, but it looks to me it may be the same way as the Macan's bc the DRL light housing is fairly thin and devoid of a projector lens, and there is housing area on the bumper for the headlight beams, though it doesn't appear to be installed on this car. I could be that the projector is in the DRL housing as this car is issued a EU manufacturer's plate and I doubt they'll allow a car on public roads without functioning headlights.

Given there will be both ICE and EV the platform will be better thought out than that of the Macan EV where Porsche have effectively scored an own goal (and dropped the ball). We now wait for the new Macan ICE or indeed a new model to plug this gaping hole.

Interior looks to have the Taycan main display rather than the shortened version in the Macan EV. Beyond that I suspect the interior will be quite familiar.

No memtion of ramge estimates either.

PA commentator as it launches: "1.94 seconds to 60 feet" or am I mishearing "to 63"?
From the Porsche newsroom report that got linked earlier:

"In addition to the record time of 31.28 seconds, another number caused a stir at Shelsley Walsh: the first measuring point, 60 feet (18,3 metres) beyond the starting line, was passed after just 1.94 seconds. Only single-seater racing cars with slick tyres built specifically for this purpose managed this feat at the event, and it gives an idea of the exceptional accelerative performance of Porsche's new all-electric SUV, which was fitted with conventional summer tyres."

Yeah, who would buy a Macan instead of a Tiguan or Q5 ?
Who in their right mind would buy a Cayenne instead of a Touareg or Q7 ?
Would in their right mind would have bought a Taycan instead of a Plaid ? More than 150,000 idiots i suppose ?

Who on this earth would buy a 911 and its bad bad bad rear engine layout instead of a Nissan GT-R or Corvette, so "much better" and so much cheaper ? Well, we know how that one turned out, don't we ?

People who do not understand the premium car market will keep projecting their own biases. Porsche should stick to its shtik.
Good points, however for common (family) platform vehicles like Macan and Cayenne, Porsche's appeal is a lifestyle brand rather than driving experience. People see the badge and aspire to 911/Booster/Cayman lifestyle. The Macan (and recently the Taycan) is a gateway to future 911 ownership.

Every time I drive a Macan and Cayenne, my takeaway is that this is not a uniquely Porsche experience.

Note the 'Turbo' emblem on the bonnet / hood - so this might be a Turbo or dare I say it a Turbo S!
