I've noticed there's so much fear and misinformation when it comes to fears about EV battery life and replacement cost.
1. What you stated above: independent shops will find ways of cost effectively repairing batteries. This is already happening with some independent companies replacing...
Had a similar experience with a RWD Model 3 that I rented in LA this past weekend. Supercharging is easy, ubiquitous and relatively quick. The car itself does pretty much everything you need from a transportation device. And, yeah, an EV drivetrain is superior to probably 90% of ICE...
100% this.
in theory I’d prefer a great ICE car to a great EV. But in this turbo hybrid era of ICE there are very few modern ICE engines that speak to me. So unless I was considering something with an NA flat six, v8 or v12 I’d take the EV instead. In the OPs case I just don’t think a TT v8 in...
One other consideration would be that 911s tend to hold their value incredibly well. The Taycan is likely to depreciate more like other luxury cars (including other 4 door Porsches). Porsche Financial Services in the US pegs the 3 year residual for most Taycan versions at around 52%. 911...
It seems like the best Taycan competition will come from Porche (and other VW group brands) themselves once the PPE cars start arriving (A6 etron, Macan EV, etc). But, atleast here in the US, i'd expect it will another 1-2 years before I'd actually be able to take delivery of one of those cars...
Like other said, it really seems like Apples and Oranges. If you're life circumstances are such that you can daily drive a vette (or any 2 seat sports car) without having another practical car, then sure, go for it.
I feel the same way wrt the styling: love the ioniq5 but don’t like the ev6 at all. In fact, the ioniq5 is one of my favorite modern car designs. I just wish they’d made it a genesis so that it could be had with some extra luxuries such as real leather, etc. I also really dislike thr styling of...
The reviewers were a bit painful to watch! Also kind of strange that they didn't swap cars to give different perspectives. But, yeah, I'd say the main advantages of the BMW (other than cheaper price) are: smaller size, hatchback and possibly a slightly more comfortable rear seat (gives the...
it does seem like Ford has done a great job launching the Mach-E. From what I've read, there arent many software or quality issues that have come up. I'd still prefer to get a Taycan CT, but then I look at the Mach-E GT and think do I really want to pay 40k+ more for the Porsche? In terns of...
I guess I dont really care because faster acceleration alone wouldn't make me want to buy the Tesla. Selfishly, I hope this does dissuade many potential Taycan buyers forcing Porsche to lower their prices or be less draconian with their std equipment :). (yeah I know its never gonna happen).
Yeah at 90k (with no tax credit), it's roughly 10k cheaper than my CT4 spec (110k list - 7.5k tax credit - small dealer discount). (I think the CT4 is the lowest priced Taycan that is closet to a Model S since it's got a hatch and is AWD). That is definitely not enough to sway me.
Advantages...
A few weeks ago, I rented a base Macan from Enterprise (we had booked a regular full size car but they were short on cars and "upgraded" us to the Macan). Overall, I was pretty underwhelmed by it. I'm not even talking about the lack of features that should be standard for the price, but just...
yeah on the purchase side dealers certainly don’t seem to add much value. I’m a bit more cautious in wishing for the demise of dealers when it comes to service. For dealers, warranty work is a profit center so they have an incentive to make the experience relatively friendly. You can see what...
Yeah the model 3 is a conundrum for me. After test driving one a few years ago I definitely did not want to go back to the conventional 4 and 6 cylinders you find in most cars under 60k. It is nimble, compact and light for an EV. Love the view out the front - reminded me of 80s hondas in a good...
I really do want to own a 911 at some point. But for now, I'm realizing that 95% of the time I won't have the opportunity to spend a few hours really enjoying it by myself on a windy road or track (having a young kid and all). The driving experience is of course completely different, but you do...
I haven’t taken long drives in one but have sat In model 3s and various iterations of pre refresh model s. I agree that none of them felt particularly good. For me personally, the biggest deal breaker with teslas from a comfort perspective are the mandatory fake leather seats. They make me start...
