Whilst I am not in Turbo territory (or budget) I also cancelled my Jan order today and switched to the Coupe S. For quite some time I was critical of the coupe styling on an SUV - I could not see the point. However on the Cayenne EV it has grown on me. The lines work. Time will tell if I have made the right choice!

So, despite having a base Cayenne on order since February, this morning I switched it to a Turbo. Same old story. I've gradually added so many options to the base model that the gap to the Turbo was small enough for me to justify switching.

No, it doesn't interest me. It's saw a review of it on Panamera, and it sounds like something I wouldn't particularly like. The reviewer said it disconnects you from the driving and it feels artificial. It also costs €9,000, so I'm not prepared to take that risk for something I don't like the sound of.

Thanks ….we have similar specs and I was debating wether to get it or not …yes it’s a lot of money but Porsche have a brilliant way of making you feel like your missing out if you don’t tick it

Re, Porsche Active Ride or not, we have many conflicting reviews of it. Some who have driven a Taycan and rave about their PAR improving it, some who have it and are lukewarm, some auto-media who says it is better than sliced bread, is totally necessary — while other auto-media (though a lesser number) say they do not like it, that it feels artificial, etc.

Then,we have Car and Driver raving about their driving a Cayenne EV S, writing it “cornered flat and fast without it. “

I think these conflicting views will be for us for a while. I am looking down the road, getting lots of posts here from forum members who have and do not have it in their Cayenne EV’s that they have driven for a few months, e.g., getting their opinions about it. At the same time, even then we will have what I called “ownership bias,” that someone who spent a fortune for it but feels it is wasted money might not post that….; yet there will be some in that post who state that they tried it a few times and have turned it fully off since.

I remember when my iX came and I very initially listened to its artificial Hans Zimmer’s sound a few times, then only when I was introducing a friend or family member the first time to our new EV — then stopped even doing that show at all.

The proverbial, “time will tell” will be our best answer to it.

The other potential issue is that very very few owners who have it, will have driven a car without it to properly compare.

Active ride seems particularly brilliant in Panamera. Haven’t driven one unfortunately, but ride comfort without is still amazing for such a low car. Have a look on Porsche’s website - Panamera gen 3 available with active ride are rare (only 11). Some of the qualities of German engineering can only appreciated at higher speeds and not really relevant for us in UK or elsewhere outside Germany. Noise and handling above 200 kmh (usual speed on certain parts of Autobahn) makes huge differences. Driving a sports car at 250 kmh can thus feel more relaxing than driving a car maxing out at around 200 kmh. So yes, at 70 mph I think some of technological advantages are kind of academic.

I believe active ride on the Cayenne, made by ZF, cannot be turned off because it replaces the air springs with hydraulic springs. There's another system, Clearmotion out of Boston, that can be disabled. The Clearmotion systems is newer and is used by Nio but Porsche I believe is slated to introduce it down the road.

Good point. I need to learn more about its PAR — such as from your posts and then hopefully in the next two months actually driving my first one.
