Sorry for a dumb question but I can’t find any videos showing this - Do you have to remove the cup holders to store bits and pieces in the central console or is there much room beneath the cup holders when they are in the higher setting

I’m coming from the Macan EV and there is a very deep storage area in the arm rest but the cup holders are in front, not in, the armrest bin.

Storage is suboptimal, but think alterations were needed for ferry pad and curved display. They should however have created some dedicated space for keys (rattle) and sunglasses though. I loved to put sunglasses in rear mirror compartment (Mercedes).

I can’t wait to see what third-party accessories will be available to segment/split the deep storage compartment

If you want 2 drinks the options are not evident. The curved screen, Ferry pad and cosmetic struts sucked up all the real estate.

Here is the shelf that is above the console storage are for your phone and below the curved screen and wrist rest.

Seems like an adequate area for sunglasses, wallets and such.

Console armpad fully closed here. From watching alot of videos, since I still have not sat in the car, I believe the armpad can be slid back about 50% of its travel thus allowing access to the forward most cupholder yet it is still useful for resting one's elbow while driving.

Be sure to add the no cost "Smoking Package" when you order the car. It's basically a cubb that sucks up one of the cupholders:

This has germinated a few ideas.
1. Semi-Easy Route: Phone in rear cupholder with short USB. Armpad slid 50% forward if you wish. Cubby with mate to magnetic phone mount. Cubby is likely 3D printed.
2. Still Easy: Wireless phone mount that sits in cupholder. Everything else the same.
3. Best: 3D printed phone mount that slips into the vertical document slot + short USB. I think there is adequate thickness. 3D printed cubby that mag mounts to the original phone mount.

Many thanks for the photos and info. Anything placed on the shelf above the phone charger will not stay there long ! I now see what they mean by ‘tablet stowage’ - slide the tablet behind the bar.

Until someone comes up with a genius idea (still waiting for rear entertainment as well), short drives should be fine (don't need water bottles so enough space for sunglasses and keys) and on longer drives front passenger has to help out with those items stored in glove compartment. But it's a shame, they simply forgotten to create dedicated space for sunglasses and keys which most of us will use in daily drive. There is an option to replace the roof handle with sunglass compartment (ordered it from China) with I never installed (Macan was a lemon) but looks nice.

Don't worry too much about these storage issues! Let me remind you we're talking about an electric car 😄
On a long trip, you'll have to stop every 2 hours to recharge anyway… which leaves plenty of time to:

Pull the sunglasses out of the glove box
Retrieve the keys stuck between two water bottles
And even meditate while waiting for the last 20% of battery

In the end, Porsche didn't forget the sunglasses compartment: they just anticipated you'd have 30 minutes every 200 km to rummage around at your leisure
