Since you correctly don't charge to 100%, your BMS do not know exactly where is the real 100%. Balancing makes it closer. That is why your reported SoH will be better after the balancing procedure. So according to chatgpt (i know), I never charge to 100%, I can't remember the last time I did, so its telling me to rebalance my battery. but its saying to let the car rest at 100% for a few hours, this seems contradictory?
Tip Why it helps ? Occasionally charge to 100% Enables the system to detect and equalize cell voltages properly. ? Let the car rest at 100% for a few hours (e.g., overnight while plugged in) Balancing usually happens during idle time, not during charging itself. ? Don’t always stick to 80–85% Staying too long at mid-range SoC can prevent balancing from ever being triggered. ? Check cell voltages (via OBDeleven or other tools) Useful if you’re tracking battery health or think you might have an imbalance
Doing it couple of times a year will not harm your battery significantly but will offer you more correct soH %.
