Loved my 2015 M4 vert (just sold), but when this grill design appeared on the newer M cars too I was out - almost seems petty saying it but honestly cannot look at that thing with any respect for design - quite a few folk walked away from the brand based on this design trend which TBH is pretty sad.

Interior is incredible, new iDrive 8 is pretty dope.
I work for BMW, so I get to see new cars.

And yeah, the bigger grilles are keeping new customers away. The grille on your car was perfect.

Agreed - new owner in Colorado sent me pics - they've had it at a few meets, at Red Rocks etc. - making me regret selling already!!

That "beaver" grill design is an example of something that has always puzzled me: How can someone walk into a meeting with an idea that is so obviously wrong and have everyone (or anyone) decide, "Yeah, that looks good to me"? I know it happens all the time, but still...

I know on the UK forums that BMW lost lots of longtime loyal customers with the ridiculous huge grills.

I came from a line of BMW's - but wouldn't even consider any of the cars with the buck teeth grin.

It was reported that BMW knew a lot of customers in existing markets wouldn't like it, but in new markets (eg China) they would.

I bet they might want to start rethinking that one.

Not to the public, but I drove it as an employee and god damn, it's sweet. I loved every minute. Interior is superior. Loved iDrive. The ADAS system is very Tesla...

Count me as one of the folks who walked away. Loved my 2016 M3 and 2019 M2...the new design dna is fugly enough that I refuse to look back. And I've had some BMW or another for 20 straight years.

I saw it in person a few times. I like it better than the I4. Interior is incredible

On the other hand, you have more space in trunk, since you don’t need to take grill with you…. and you can always have a picnic

These designs go through many hoops and focus groups before approval/production. I have never talked to one person that liked this grill . Everyone hates it

you are comparing apples and oranges. one is a SUV the other one is a 4 door sports coupe.
my recently acquired Ipace has a large grill like appearance, I think it looks great
