I had an E30 M3. That was driving in a purist form.

That was my (first and) last BMW and then just felt that the cars started going down the slope of looking bland (though technically quite sound). At the end of that slope came Chris Bangle and went from bland to…. Not my taste.

Here is the best, subtle, almost invisible front grill or “Niere/kidney”!

I wouldn't say nicer, but interior is way more futuristic. iDrive 8 with the massive screen looks better thant the Porsche infontainment, and it works faster.
Interesting. Taycan is by far the most futurist interior I've sat in. Def going to check out the iX then in person - seems like a good experience either way.

Think the IX looks better in the flesh than in pictures, still not the SUV EV to replace my current urus people lugger though.

100%

I actually love the iX in the flesh. I would totally buy it. Just gotta wait until they're able to actually apply employee discounts haha

Why do you need a grill on an electric car? You don't have an engine to cool.

EVs should look like EVs, not try to look like ICE machines. Tesla gets it, Porsche gets it with the Taycan. But there are so many others that think EVs should look like an retro smog generator. Even the Audi e-tron, which I happen to like a lot, has a grill where it doesn't need to be. All the grill does is increase drag and lower the overall efficiency of the car.
Ive been wondering about this for many years. Then I recently watched (on Amazon I think) a program about Jaguar's development of the iPace -- its first ever electric car -- which of course sports a big, fat grill. After watching, and listening to Jag's head of design, I realized that the explanation is simple: the people with the highest rank, with the greatest influence over design, are typically old(er) successful men and/or people who think like old(er) men and refuse to embrace new and/or shifting paradigms. These dudes need to be quickly put out to pasture before it's too late. (No offense intended for anyone reading this who is over the age of 40!). By the way, the iX always puts a smile on my face when I see it; the grill somehow reminds me of Bugs Bunny in drag -- classic comedy!
