Hi, I currently drive a Tesla Model 3 Long Range 2021 and its bloody fast, exactly what I always wanted to have.
I think, its easily doing 0-100Kmph in 4.3 seconds.
And if I buy the acceleration boost for 2000$, I can get around 3.7 seconds only.
Absolutely no regrets for the Tesla, as its a perfect car and I love it.

But since I have always leaned towards more luxury and driving pleasure, I want to go for the Taycan.
Now, Im not sure, if I should get the RWD or 4S.
4S is of course getting out of the budget, but if RWD is really slower than Model 3 LR - then I think I will have to go for 4S, but again its beyond budget.

So, is there anyone who was a previous owner of Tesla Model 3 LR and has moved to Taycan RWD.

My dealership has 4S on test drive but no RWD yet. So, Im not able to test it myself too.
Let me know.

Taycan RWD is slower than the Model 3 LR or Performance. Then again, I would personally argue it doesn't even matter. You still get an enormous amount of torque from the RWD and it is more than fast enough for daily use. For me, I will gladly give up some 0-100 time to have a way more enjoyable car which is unique and customized the way I like it.

If 0-100 is number one on your list, look at the M3 performance, BMW i4 M50 or break the bank for a Turbo S. If luxury and driving experience matter more, the RWD will serve you fine.

If you are concerned about speed than I am not sure you would be happy with the RWD. For me it is fine because as @tomtom901 said it is more than enough for daily use. There are others on the forum that really want the speed so they opt for the 4S version and above.

I’m coming from a boxster. So the rwd accelerates quicker. I test drove both the 4s and the rwd. What sold me on the rwd ( which I have on order) is the steering wheel feel. Much better than the 4s and more like the boxster. Actual feedback from the road.

As the owner of a 4S, I find it pretty much too fast for the street, as I have pretty much every sub 4 second car I’ve owned or driven, so I don’t think it’s a necessity to go for the 4S to still enjoy the Taycan experience. It really all depends on what will make you happy and the only way to do that is to drive one. I came very close to opting for the Turbo and I’m really glad that I didn’t. Gonna be hard enough to stay out of jail in the 4S.

If money was an issue, I’d probably choose a heavily optioned RWD over a lightly optioned 4S.

Yes, sports chrono offers sport + and launch control. PB+ battery gives you more speed in the 0-100 section so might benefit you?

I read that, PB+ battery doesnt add to performance, but only 50km extra range.
I find spending such huge money for PB+ is not worth for just 50km

PB+ does not add to performance because of the additional weight. You do not need PB+ for Launch Control. I have a RWD without PB+ or Chrono and I have Launch Control. I do not have Sports+ (at least I don’t think so)

I’m getting the sports chrono as it gives you a more thicker steering wheel.
Just want to know, if the sports plus mode would be there or not since I’m getting the chrono package

I moved from a model 3 performance to a rwd taycan. You wont miss the acceleration. The rwd taycan has plenty of power for normal driving such as passing on highways. What you're going to miss more is Tesla's software... but in all other aspects the taycan is superior

Old model 3 owner here, i researched for a long time between trims before purchasing. For speed / performance, min 4s if you can afford. If money no problem, turbo then.
You can watch carwow video reviews as well to give you an idea.
I enjoy speed all time with taycan , not just when battery full like in tesla.

Are you only interested in the 0-60 times?

Why not 'in gear/overtaking' times and how things go round corners?

That's what is usually more relevant in real world diving. Not drag strip times.

The PB+ does add more performance, but the 0-60 time are quoted as the same as the smaller battery due to extra weight off the line.
See 80-120kmh / 0-160kmh / 0-200kmh times (1 & 2 below).

So, it all depends on whether your sole reference point for choosing a car is the 0—60 times. In which case a 4S is better (3 below) especially with its extra traction, or stick with your Tesla.

Paying 6k for sport chrono that gives you a button and a thicker steering wheel vs the same amount for a battery upgrade that gives you real world performance…

maybe euro sport chrono pack is different than us. But seems goofy to me.

The last of many T cars I had was the M3P, it’s fast but ultimately just a bit shit…..if you can put up with simply adequate performance but wrapped in a stylish, well build and desirable vehicle the RWD is the sweet spot.
