Matt. It’ll be interesting to know how the installer actually fits - I’m still waiting for Porsche to provide the installation / cabling details for their camera - not sure if that is only on the Coupe or SUV as well.

The installer being me :) all went well on the Taycan. How difficult can it be on the Cayenne (hopefully i don't regret saying that)

I've so far opted to use a Blackvue camera with their rechargeable 12v battery pack. The battery plugs into the standard 12v socket in the boot (battery located in the storage well below the floor), so no interfering with anything that might be used to wriggle out of a warranty claim later.

Cabling is simply a feed from front to rear camera / front camera to battery / battery to 12v socket

Still can't believe camera is not standard. HAL at Tesla is amazing and around for a few years now. Seems reverse engineering is not a German thing. That being said, Mercedes offered paid software upgrade to activate camera in my GLE. Any news if Porsche Software shop is coming back?

The main reason I went with the Porsche dashcams was because UK support said if there were electrical issues the warranty for those Could be voided. I didn’t really believe it would cause a problem but a few early adopters of alternatives on the Macan forum were experiencing some issues with alternatives. I was mostly concerned about the possible drain of the 12v battery but late realised that was unfounded. I went with the Porsche one on the Cayenne as it was a gift from the dealer as I left the one in the Macan.
When are you having your camera fitted? I am like you, don't want to mess with third party electronics. They tend to use any excuse like tracker in previous car. Glad tracker was installed by dealer otherwise I would have been in trouble.

Still no date. The dealer won’t fix them without the Porsche installation instructions. The longer this goes on the more convinced I am that it’s not the installation instructions that is the issue. I’ve got the dealer thinking this too. For what it’s worth I suspect that as the pre-wiring isn‘t standard on all cars (non UK) the EV’s may not have it fitted in error.

Surely 8t doesn’t take over 6 months after launch to prepare and issue simple camera installation instructions. UK Customer Service have no timeframe or explanation.
