You wrote that Taycan OBC and heater were not designed by Porsche. Do Tesla and some other EV manufacturers handle things differently?

Porsche just did their WPU1 recall/fix/upgrade on my 2021 Porsche Mobile Charger. Currently I'm using a 3rd party charger at home and its working well but I do have the original fancy housing for the Porsche mobile charger.

Q: Is there a downside to switching back to the Porsche charger (which never gave me any problem) ... for example does it still default to 20Amp charging rather than 40Amp? That would be a deal killer for me.

You should be able to switch back and get 9.6kw charging. There is a new temperature sensor in the pigtail they replaced that will cause the charging to stop if temperature in the cord or connector exceeds a safety threshold.

i recently switched from a premium EVSE to PMCC+. After 1 day, I switched back:

IMO the only thing PMCC+ has going for it is the aesthetically pleasing physical design. The in-app UI, data, and experience is very basic and any premium EVSE with a supported app like the Chargepoint Flex will be a better experience.

For what it’s worth, my PMCC pigtail was replaced for a second time just a month ago. The new pigtail has a better heat sensor according to the SA.

I don’t use this device at all, but I do carry it in my car. Not as small as other portable level two chargers, of course but hey! I already own it.

updated to include threads about the lack of compatibility with Kona vehicle's…yet another victory for Porsche EVSE's (not).
