Porsche announced its new approach to software - starting with the Cayenne electric. The Board Director that oversaw it has been demoted so not a good look ! Some of the Macan EV’s had various software issues, although not so much infotainment but system issues.

Let’s hope the Cayenne EV early adopters aren’t used as a test bed - With the Cayenne electric, the new Porsche Digital Interaction design language has also been introduced. Intelligent software and advanced hardware are being combined to deliver a seamless, personalized, and connected driving experience.

I honestly wouldn’t worry. The issues with the Macan were relatively minor overall, although there were a few outliers. I don’t have any statistics, but I’ve spoken to two dealers in Sweden and neither of them had experienced issues with customers like my car (the one Porsche eventually repurchased). Whenever they did encounter problems, they were mainly hardware-related and could be replaced quite easily.

I had issues myself, and the car spent more than a year in the shop in total, so if anyone were to be skeptical, it should probably be me. So enjoy the wait, you’re going to have a blast with your new car! :)

Also, I test drove the German Cayenne that has been touring Swedish dealerships, and it drove flawlessly without a single issue. And these are still pre-production cars.

Khan joined too late for Macan EV. He was responsible for the MBUX platform and worked before at BMW. His design language is clearly noticeable in Cayenne EV. Leitner spent his recent years at "niche" sports car manufacturers. Two very different design philosophies.

I personally like a well integrated screen in portrait orientation. My map orientation is in driving direction and I want to see what is in from of me. Landscape screen orientation is emphasising on left and right. So yes, not good news that Khan got demoted.

Thanks for the informative post. It seems like corporate politics ruled over competence. Perhaps the newly appointed guy is there more for managing the Rivian integration rather than his technical ability.
