Looks like I will have to cancel - my insurer will not insure the Cayenne EV - not even the basic version. Being told it's a combination of the weight and potential lack of availability of spares on a new model. It's declined but not as a result of my age or driving record (20 years no claims and no convictions in 15 years).

My insurer was one of the few to offer a reasonable cost on my Macan S and they realise the Coupe Basic is slower !

if anyone wants to order a Coupe in the UK for July delivery with a freeze this Fri please pm me and I'll give you the contact details of the dealer. The allocation may be snapped up by a different dealer in the Lithia group.
I hope your insurance issue isn't widespread. I've just emailed my broker and instructed them to make some preliminary enquiries on premiums. I'm locked in and deposit paid :)

Just did quick search via confused.com. Seems car is too new/not released - no results.

My insurer (Admiral) declined to insure irrespective of age etc. They say they won't insure the car for anyone due to a combination of - weight, power / acceleration and as a new model lack of spares etc for any repairs.

I pointed out they were happily insuring my Macan S EV which was heavy and of more power and faster acceleration. They said in their eyes the Electric Basic was group 99 and the Macan 49. I asked them to double check they weren't using the Turbo and they said definitely not.

The scary thing was that to get a quote I asked them to consider a Basic EV SUV as the Coupe wasn't on the system. So they were considering a model announced 6 months ago.

I will try other insurers but had 2 declinations online. I have 20+ yrs no claims and a clean licence for 20 years but are 70 years old - Admiral stressed my age didn't come into it.

Hopefully you'll have more success

CHP - try using the Electric SUV as in terms of engine etc it's comparable to the Coupe

I tried a quote through “Compare the market” for the lease car, Cayenne Turbo Electric, I’ve ordered through work. Like you @Wivenhoe they wouldn’t provide a quote. Thankfully the lease company have confirmed their broker will insure me and the wife. Similar to you I have a decent amount of no claims and driving history. Was surprised they wouldn’t even provide a crazy high priced quote, even added in a £1000 excess to try and help. Weird.

Of course. Just need to check my work emails for the details and I’ll let you know.

@Wivenhoe the broker the lease company are using is Howdens looking at my email traffic. Might be the same one as this link https://www.howdeninsurance.co.uk/
But I’m not certain. I just filled in the form for the lease company and they confirmed their broker would insure me.
hope it helps though.

This is comforting to know as i already use Howdens (formerly A-Plan). I should hear something back from them today

So, after having 5 companies decline to quote (lexx1977 including Howden but you'll be ok on a lease) Porsche insurance will cover it. The 'indicative quote" is about £ 500 more than my Macan S - not too bad with a £ 100k guarantee payment for a write off or new car in first year.

After comments above, I just called Porsche Insurance to get a quote for base Cayenne EV. No price difference (not even inflation adjusted as compared to last year policy) as compared to Macan EV 4S. Broker was asking if car is below 100K which may be the trick. Only downside with Porsche insurance is mandatory tracker, there goes the keyless functionality :CWL: .

Glad you managed to find insurance in the end.

Estimated delivery date
Changed my spec to a Coupe. Allocated production date in August, was told it would be 14 weeks (delivery in November) instead of the normal 8 as a result of the 22” sport techno I optioned.
