My latest addition: Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days. 5.95mm thickness in titanium. Far and away the lightest most comfortable thing I’ve ever had on my wrist.

There is a trivial automotive link to the watch. The designer, Fabrizio Stigliani, is a car nut, specifically old school Italian sport coupes. The “eight days” on the dial is decidedly Pininfarini-esque.

Attended an event with Jack Mason watches to see the release of their new Pursuit Pilot 10th Anniversary Edition. Grade 2 titanium and a cool new movement for the brand. If you don’t know Jack Mason, they’re based in Dallas and sell online at jackmasonbrand.com. Reasonably priced and solidly built.

I've been wanting to pick up the Chronograph 1 for a while and with the recent move to a 911 Targa, now felt like the right time.

In a world of ever increasing chronograph watch sizes, it is nice that this still has a tidy 40mm case diameter.

Picked up this version new with a significant discount from retail prices.

I heard someone say that they were amused that IWC would “sponsor” a fake F1 team. Then again, they also sponsor a very real F1 team, so maybe this isn’t that different. Went to my local AD to try on the IWC Performance Chronograph Ceratanium. I like the Petronas blue accents and the Smokey sapphire case back. Not bad for a “fake” team watch.

I heard someone say that they were amused that IWC would “sponsor” a fake F1 team.

Given the film has been heavily supported by some in F1, particularly Lewis Hamilton, and IWC have been long term sponsors of Mercedes in F1 they probably thought having exposure in a heavily marketed film may work out well, like James Bond watches and so on, there is quite a history of watches worn in films becoming "collectable".

I think IWC involvement in F1 goes back decades, I remember Nelson Piquet had a gold IWC when he drove for us in 1986/7 which I think was part of his 1981 World Championship prize.

I bought my first IWC in the late 1980s myself.

Yes, that's a 28 jewels watch!
Fully restored, serviced and new lume.
First time I tried reluming, it's a nerve-racking experience but I'm pretty satisfied with the result!
Had this laying around for quite some time but I wanted to celebrate his 60th birthday and now it's proudly taking its place in the showcase. ???

At the time of buying (Chrono24 in 2020) it wasn't that special, just a nice used Formula 1.

After I got it a few years I saw the new series Formula 1 (2023) which had an orange second hand and I wanted that too, together with the strap of the Gulf Edition:

So I made an appointment at my local Tag Heuer dealer to get this done so it would be a genuine Tag Heuer mod.
After two weeks I got it back:

Much better!
"But", they said: "do you know it's a Limited Edition?"...
Ehr...no, I never knew!
They showed me the back:

I never looked at the back so yeah, that was a big surprise!
It wasn't even in the ad when I bought it!
Anyway, I'll keep the original second hand with great care cuz it's quite unique.
The other difference with a regular Formula 1 is the black dial, normally it's dark blue.
It's #116/200 so that's pretty rare for a big brand like Tag Heuer.
Lucky me!

PS Colored logo means quartz, outlined logo means automatic.

PS It's just a extremely rare coincidence that it looks like the Patek Philippe Nautilus worth billions!
Even more cuz I changed the hands...
