Side note, have you seen the Taycan 4S CT twin from NEO (for about half the price)?
I've sat in one recently, good quality, alcantara headliner, comes with 23-speakers sound system and even has soft close doors as standard, I wonder why Taycan doesn't have this even optional.

Next gen EV's from premium manufacturers must get more standard options. I rented an EQE for few days and at 90k its horrible inside, cheap plastics straight from A class.

I buy Porsche's for design, quality and performance but the base trims are way overpriced for what you're getting, too much plastics inside, poor audio, software not that good.

Competition in car market is heating up, especially with Chinese cars entering the market.

I love the Taycan but even from the first release of the cars thought they were all underpowered for their cost. The base to me is unforgivable the lack of power compared to its weight at a 100k and up. I know Porsche is more than straight acceleration but that is one of the draws of ev. Each trim should have had the power of the next trim up with the turbo S being in the 800’s. Also wish they wouldn’t have limited the full power to just launch control. The handling, looks, and fit and finish is why I bought the car but to say I wish it didn’t have more power would be a lie to myself. The turbo S was always the wolf in sheep’s clothing that would tear up mid to low level exotics in performance.

The cool thing is that anyone who wants a Tesla can buy one, and anyone who wants a Taycan can buy one. My buddy has a Model Y that I think is a cheap piece of shit and I have a Taycan 4S he thinks is crazy overpriced. But we both love our cars, so who gives a fuck?

Tesla has no trouble selling cars and Porsche is the second most profitable car company on the planet. Both companies will be just fine.

But this is Porsche’s strategy with every model lineup. It’s how they get buyers to move up to a higher model. It’s why they’re so profitable. They know they have such a desirable product overall that they can get customers to overpay for all the options, including more power.

that is the primary difference Porsche marketing is emphasizing.
I would expect Porsche USA marketing to emphasise acceleration from zero in their market - the only one where drag racing is a big thing IME.
It is an important parameter for your market, which is big but unique.

For every other country I have driven (except maybe Oz?), including my own, it is of little consequence. I was interested as a teen petrolhead as an easy comparison in magazine road tests but haven’t been in the 50+ years I have owned actual cars.

For me, for the last 40 years at least, it has been the test drive which counts and whether I bother to have a test drive depends on how well a car fulfils my main requirements, of which a 0-60 time is not one.

No Tesla has fulfilled all my requirements and I don’t buy cars often, apart from my Taycan I have owned my cars for 32, 26, 11 and 6 years and have good reasons to keep them.

The only car I kept a short time, and suffered considerable depreciation as a result, was a BMW M3 which was too uncomfortable - seat and ventilation - to keep so gone in 6 months.

an easy comparison
I think this is the key - comparison.

Based on everything else I've ever read you write, you treat your relationship with your car primarily, if not exclusively, as a one-on-one thing (at least in the non-canine department).

Some people (in all markets, I would presume) treat car purchases as peacock's tails - outward indicators of some sort of societal success, typically financial. If that's part of the way you see the situation, then it really matters to you that your car is better at X, Y, or Z than other people's cars, and that means statistics that are easy to calculate, understand, and compare.

I care about maximizing the utility that flows from my car to me and the people who ride in it. I don't care about competing or comparing.

I bought into the Porsche driving experience and love my Taycan CT 4 but I also enjoyed my Model X and the pricing now means a Tesla is a no brainer unless you are a sucker for Porsche marketing or have money to burn

Meh, if price is key, I’d argue that my $33,000 GTI S is a better car than anything from Tesla or Porsche. It’s a blast to drive, more practical than a Model S or Taycan, and the build quality is terrific. But we all know cars are more than spec sheets and pricing. It’s about the overall driving experience. And nothing is quite like a Porsche. They’re nutty expensive, but worth every penny. I’ve owned eight of them and never once have I felt like I didn’t get my money’s worth. All it takes is some time in any other make of car to remind me that nothing really compares to sitting behind the wheel of a Porsche.

It’s akin to paying a crazy amount of money to play a world famous golf course, only to be paired with some shit golfers who don’t understand or appreciate what makes it an architectural gem, and they proceed to complain because it’s expensive and the cart girl wasn’t even nice to them.

We're first-time Porsche owners, thanks to the Taycan.

I don't have a clue who the CEO of Porsche is, nor do I care. Unfortunately I do know who the CEO of Tesla is, and I don't have any interest being associated with his antics.

If it weren't a 4-door sedan, I'd have bought a Model S years ago, and the pricing now is interesting and competitive. That said, I've no interest in being part of the Elon Musk cult that seems to come with Tesla ownership.

I'm waiting for more information on the Dodge Charger SRT Banshee, and the Cayman EV. One of those might find itself parked in our garage, next to our Taycan.

If you don’t have other competing purchases for the cash then that’s fine. But Tesla is offering better performance, better autonomy, better tech, better charging infrastructure for a much lower price now. I fully agree the Taycan is a much better looking car but wouldn’t be willing to pay the much higher prices price (more than double for the Turbo S!) for a poorer performing car simply based on the looks. Porsches are everywhere in CH so you’re hardly buying exclusivity.

If the wheel is turned 90 degrees that means you already turned. Too late for a signal. Seriously i don’t remember ever turning the signal on while the wheel is already turned, probably because my hand naturally touches the indicator before the wheel has any angle on it if my intention is to signal.
When exiting a roundabout? Exit to the right in a left hairpin in the mountains.

Maybe Elon tested the Yoke on BMW drivers they don’t use the indicator anyway (from a 15 year bmw driver)

Wondered why the Plaid was 10% cheaper in CHF compared to EUR. What happened to the CHF or euro? Last time I checked it was around 0.9. Usually I just payed with Euro and they would do a 1/1 and make some profit.
