Hi all,

My build date got pushed back so I still have about 2 weeks before my freeze date — trying to sort out one thing that's been bugging me.

On the base Cayenne Vanadium grey (no Sport Design Package), what finish do the side skirts, wheel arches, and front/rear bumper trim come in?

From a YouTube video of the base spec, it looks like raw unpainted plastic (images 1 & 2), which I definitely want to avoid.

Here's where it gets confusing: when I add the Sport Design Exterior in Black (High Gloss) in the configurator, the side skirts, wheel arches, bumpers appear glossy black .

— but in showroom photos and videos, they look like a lighter glossy shade, not the same gloss black as the window trims and roof rails (images 3 & 4).

So there seem to be three different looks floating around:
1. Raw unpainted plastic (base, no Sport Design) — seen in a YouTube video
2. Gloss black matching window trims — shown in the configurator
3. A glossy but lighter-than-black finish — seen in showroom photos/videos

The showroom models do not have the sport design package but it also doesn't have the raw unpainted plastic like the first two images.

Can anyone clarify which finish you actually get with the base model?

Thank you!

In my opinion, the difference in appearance does not come from a third finish, but rather from several factors:
- the material (painted plastic for the lower body parts and bumpers vs aluminium for the roof rails and window trims),
- the lighting conditions (showroom vs outdoor),
- and the camera sensors, which can enhance or reduce contrast.

As a result, the glossy black on the lower parts can appear lighter or less deep in some photos, even though it is indeed the same “glossy black” finish included in the package.

For what it’s worth, I went with Vanadium Grey as well. ;)

Love your taste in colors 😄

Been studying the configurator closely. the bumpers and wheel arches don’t look like bare plastic at all. There’s clearly a reflective quality to them.

Makes me wonder if that video I watched with raw plastic featured a pre-production car?

or should I take the configurator images with a grain of salt?

Think I found the answer in a Porsche newsroom release — the side skirts and wheel arch trims are finished in Volcanic Grey Metallic as standard, with the Sport Design package swapping that to gloss black.

The video I saw had the Off-Road package, which explains the matte black trims and body-colored rear diffuser.

Mystery solved!
