MO Lucid makes a very good vehicle. However, a vehicle to me is far more than an efficient appliance. The looks of every Lucid leaves me cold. If they boosted its range another fifty miles, threw in some more interior niceties at the same price, made each one faster, I am and will always be a hard pass.

The Gravity looks like a minivan.

That is why we have multiple car companies with a range of products. Different customers have different priorities and means. The goal of the automakers is to extract as much profit as they can from their product (ok, maybe there are few exceptions, like the Cybertruck, made primarily for one customer - Elon, who from the very beginning said he doesn't care if it doesn't sell much).

The article is not super clear, but it seems like Skoda is more profitable by total profit, but not by profit margin. This will be true of any mass market car. McDonalds makes way more profit than any high end restaurant in Hollywood or Manhattan.

This isn't a new phenomenon either. Porsche makes more profit than Bugatti, VWAG's even less budget-friendly brand.
