Me too. My previous car was a hotrodded eGolf. Basically the electric GTi they never built with lowered suspension, bilstein sport shocks, the aero bits from an eTrophy race car and plaid GTD seats. I haven't sold that car yet and if I'm being honest, it's better and more fun for my daily city commute than the Taycan.
I bought a ‘23 GTI S base model about six months ago to split time with my Taycan, and I love it. A ton of car for $33k.
I previously owned a ‘17 Golf R for a couple of years and was super impressed with that car too. If they keep the production version of this new car close to this concept, it’ll be my next car.
It’s on my radar too. Had most of the GTI’s, R32’s over the years, wife has also loved pushing the to them to the limit.
For the second car/wife’s, currently have a Cupra Born V3 on order but will definitely be looking into GTI after that, been waiting for a ‘hot hatch’ EV to appear. Before anyone pipes in about model 3 or ’xyz’ being faster…..the old GTI feel was not just about speed, it was the whole package, feel, handling and size…..let’s hope their are more manufacturers heading in this direction to give good option/competition but follow the ‘hot hatch’ characteristics….
I’m also super interested in the ID Buzz AWD version that’s rumored to be here late next year. If it’s not $90k, that might wind up in my driveway first. Would be a perfect people/dog hauler around a beach town like this.
