For me, I'm considering between this Cayenne and the Rivian R1S.

No interior shots, but I'm hoping the drunk is larger than Macan's. Dimensions appears to be similar to ICE Cayenne. It's unclear if it's built on J1 or PPE platforms

The version here is likely the Turbo or Turbo S variant as I see the fake rear bumper vents similar to that of the j1.2 Taycan, and the wheel arches . There is also active aero on the front bumper similar to the 992.2 GTS and Turbo.

I'm also really liking the exterior styling mix with Taycan and Macan. While I initially disliked the DRL split from the beam lights that has been relocated to the bumper, this look has grown on me on the Macan. It's unclear how the DRL/Beam locations will be on this car, but it looks to me it may be the same way as the Macan's bc the DRL light housing is fairly thin and devoid of a projector lens, and there is housing area on the bumper for the headlight beams, though it doesn't appear to be installed on this car. I could be that the projector is in the DRL housing as this car is issued a EU manufacturer's plate and I doubt they'll allow a car on public roads without functioning headlights.

The Cayenne will be so astronomically priced that it will be a tough compare with the Rivian.

The 718 EV really is delayed. Not a hit of it.

PA commentator as it launches: "1.94 seconds to 60 feet" or am I mishearing "to 63"?

Everything at a Porsche dealer is 2 to 3 times the cost of anywhere else. After 3 years with a Taycan I am done with Porsche.

I am nearly 3 years in with mine and I still love it…loved my past Porsche’s too. That said; hard to justify $150-$200K+ for an EV. A decent Cayenne EV will easily be in this range.

Which I suspect will result in close to 0 sales.
By the time this comes out commercially, in any real availability, BYD and Xiaomi will be in Europe also, at 1/3 of the price.
Porsche needs to sell this at max 100k if they want to move any real volume. To be honest, in the biggest market, China, even at that price they won't move any cars...

Yeah, who would buy a Macan instead of a Tiguan or Q5 ?
Who in their right mind would buy a Cayenne instead of a Touareg or Q7 ?
Who in their right mind would have bought a Taycan instead of a Plaid ? More than 150,000 idiots i suppose ?

Who on this earth would buy a 911 and its bad bad bad rear engine layout instead of a Nissan GT-R or Corvette, so "much better" and so much cheaper ? Well, we know how that one turned out, don't we ?

People who do not understand the premium car market will keep projecting their own biases. Porsche should stick to its shtik.

Yeah, who in their right mind would pay 150k-200k; when for 40k you can have a Xiaomi YU7 Ultra with: superior performance, superior interior quality, superior battery technology, superior looks, superior tech, superior software.

I agree :)

Why are we comparing the Cayenne EV to a Tiguan, instead of it's real competition, cars like Xiaomi YU7?In china nobody will choose the Cayenne, and once it's in europe by 2027, few will in Europe also. People in the market for a Cayenne EV are the people looking for max luxury in a big car to go grocery shopping with - and Xiaomi delivers on that, at 1/3 of the price - so Cayenne will have to deliver on that at a good price also.

Or are you an adept of the Porsche strategy, of putting your head in the ground, and ignoring the competition?

The reality is if they want to sell good numbers of these, they will need to have competitive pricing or be dominant in other manners - which they aren't at the moment.

Porsche has always had premium pricing and always faced competition from cheaper challengers who went exactly nowhere in that segment.

Outside of China, the chinese will still share from mid range brands, not premium. All of the examples i am giving have long proven it.

Only people who do not understand this market see it otherwise. And will easily be proven wrong again.

You are simply projecting because it aligns with your very personal criteria and bashing agenda. Why in the world did you buy a GT4 ?

A simple question you embarrassingly avoid answering.

Because I like it?

Will I replace it if Xiaomi releases a better product at 1/3 of the price? Heck yea.

Also, that premium pricing is going great.. - I have a good idea, Porsche should triple the prices of their cars, for more premium, surely it's going to look even more great.
Mind you, this is all deliveries, aka the fancy Porsche like the gt4 and 911 included also :)
And mind you, porsche still doesn't have competition in the 2 door segment from a chinese brand, yet. And no competition in western markets on any car yet, from the chinese.
But they will, soon.

2024 was already a worse year than 2023.

You are kidding yourself if you think Porsche can compete without competing on price, they are not Ferrari and they never will be - and with increasing competition coming in Europe, they will suffer more.
