I have a different view. I have a model 3 from 2019 with basic autopilot! Maybe there is another version apart from FSD, which I have no interest in.

The Taycans Innodrive is much much better than Tesla basic autopilot. You can indicate, change lanes without the autopilot disengaging. It drives the car much smoother both when accelerating as well as when catching up other traffic. It slows down ( a tad too much maybe) at roundabouts and motorway exits, which my Tesla does not do.

And most important of all! I have NOT one single time had any of Teslas famous Phantom braking events in the Porsche! None.

Even other Tesla drivers that have tested the Innodrive have commented on how smooth and well the the Taycan operates.

The PCM. Backup camera and map updates etc is a long long way behind Tesla, but the essential driving SW is much better as @f1eng staed above.

One pedal driving is probably the best marketing solution I have ever heard of to cover up a massive shortcoming.
Your 2019 3 has a more basic Autopilot than the one that is included now.
The new ones have included green light notification and a lot of stuff that used to be in the EAP package. So basic autopilot now does almost all the FSD did in 2019, but you wont have summon and lane change/on/offramp on basic ap. But other features are there, like green light notifications etc. which used to be in FSD package, its now basic AP.

Be aware that the "new" fsd software is not yet in Europe, so the software is more advanced in USA+Cannada. Not sure when EU gets it, maybe in several years(?)..

My son has this settings turned down to the lowest setting in his M3, and when I release the go pedal, it still slows down very, very fast. So, in essence, you can't turn it off.
I've never heard of this in a BMW M3.

I am going to take it to a different level on why I will never go back to a Tesla. Besides being cheaply made and driving like dog turd, they are just plain, and boring looking.

I am an almost 55, twice divorced recent cancer survivor. There is absolutly no way I am pulling up to a nice restaurant with a date half my age in a Tesla. I am going to have as much fun as I can while I can and I am going to do it in a Porsche, not some boring, plain looking Tesla.

I know I am cliche, but I am going to perpetuate that cliche to the best of my ability!!!!!!

They really. really. really. fucking are.

They all look the fucking same and come in, what, four colors?

Model 3 looked great when it first came out, but now I see so fucking many of them that a fucking Camry looks more distinctive.

I'm constantly amazed why everyone compares the Taycan to the Tesla Model 3. No argument the Model 3 is pretty generic and very common now. But also not even close to the cost of a Taycan. The demographic for a Taycan and Model 3 probably differ quite a lot. The Model S is a much better comparison to the Taycan. It is getting a little long in the tooth, but is still a very good looking car. Longer and sleeker than a 3 by a good margin. Replaced my Model S with a Taycan because I was due for something new and wanted different. To your point, there were still the same 5 colors and the exterior changes to the refresh in 2021 were noticeable only to fan-boys. So even though I didn't want a new copy of the same old car I still consider the Model S to be a great looking car.

Good point, especially given that the price for Tesla's own NACS-P <> CCS-R adapter is only $175, so the Tesla NACS-R <> CCS-P adapter will probably be priced similarly given that it's just the same thing but with the R<>P reversed.

(Even more curious is how Tesla asks for only another $275 to retrofit pre-2020 Teslas for whatever is necessary to support CCS communication protocols. Given that it is hard to get anything done to any vehicle for only $275, Tesla sure seems to be subsidizing the ability of its drivers to not be tied to Tesla's own DCFC network -- definitely not the kind of behavior that would seem to support the conspiracy theories that Tesla is trying to achieve some sort of DCFC monopoly.)

Out of curiosity, I looked up the Amazon NACS-P <> CCS-R options: about a dozen that are barely any less expensive that Tesla's adapter, and about another dozen hovering around $85-$100.
Of the cheaper models, I quickly (caveat: quickly, not exhaustively) looked up the one-star reviews and couldn't find any references to overheating, melting, etc.
However, I did find many reviews complaining about slow charging or a charger not working at all: welcome to CCS DCFC all you coddled Tesla Supercharger patrons!

Speaking of DIY charging solutions, check out this blast from the past:

what did you search for? I tried NACS-P to CCS-R and I didn’t really bring anything up.
what is the -p and -r? Sorry for these noob questions!

P is plug; R is receptacle.
Helpful to keep that straight if you're looking to buy an adapter/dongle for various types of NEMA plugs that you might encounter in desperation. (Though remember to reduce the amps during such charging.)
The car charging adapter listings though are usually phrased as something like "CCS to Tesla" and the pictures are pretty obvious.
Meanwhile, for the reverse, this company:
https://a2zevshop.com/en-us/products/nacs-ccs1
... started developing its NACS-R<>CCS-P adapter back in September, completed the design in December, then went live with a placeholder product listing in July.
Goal must be to partner with a Chinese manufacturing facility to produce these as OEM-branded for the various NACS EV allies.
(I wonder if they test it with a Tesla EV at a V3 Supercharger by hooking up their NACS-R<>CCS-P prototype in sequence with their NACS-P<>CCS-R adapter!)

Oh, OK that makes sense versus the whole male vs female thing of yesteryear. More politically correct too I guess!

thanks very much for the info. Really appreciate it!

Every time I see this post title at the top of my forum top hits, i have to roll my eyes. Its a reductive argument, like comparing a new shiny apple to a moldy orange. Can we kill this thread please and replace it with something useful. We are at 7 pages for heaven's sake. Anyone still stuck on this question deserves a Tesla. You'll be fine, don't worry about it.

(I realize I may have just shot myself in the foot with that request, but I can't keep quiet any longer)
