Interesting comparison, thanks.
I test drove a Genesis G70 back in 2019 and was extremely expressed (except for the back seat, which failed the family test drive, even though our daughter was only nine years at the time -- big contrast with the i4, which is fine now even when my wife and I are...
Will a 71.5 bore size wheel fit on the Taycan?
If the tolerances are tight, then obviously not.
But this seller:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/167522822380
... lists a 71.5 bore size and compatibility with various 71.6 Porsche.
(I will of course also ask the eBay seller.)
I just want to build up a...
Interesting review, thanks for posting that -- especially many of those criticisms also apply to the Taycan.
This though is partly their fault:
"A 360-degree view camera system and a rear windshield wiper are commonplace on six-figure automobiles — our iX had both — but they are not found on...
Although the publicity might discourage some prospective EV buyers, should Trump succeed in somewhat halting any further NEVI expansion, that will help the charging infrastructure here: the sooner gov't-mandated (e.g., VW's punishment for Dieselgate, for which EA is the punishment delivered...
Even more befuddling is that some of my Taycan's calendar notifications can timely, so no consistency at all. So strange that Porsche put *some* effort into this but not enough to make it actually work reliably.
The extreme variability in outcomes (i.e., no reminder, relevant reminder, totally flawed reminder) is is an impressive accomplishment regardless of the underlying reason!
^ And here I thought it was just my maps that were being constantly updated!
What about calendar notifications? Seems to be some random element deciding which calendar appointments prompt reminders, and at what times.
Definitely made sense at first when Tesla and Rivian used it as a selling point for their vehicles.
And Tesla V2 pedestals don't speak CCS1.
But I'm baffled why Tesla V3 pedestals and all Rivian stations don't allow universal access now, especially at some significant price differential if...
BMW send out a letter recently narrowing down the anticipated window for TSCN V3 access to a 365-day period within calendar year 2025.
Porsche is after BMW in line, so 2039 seems about right.
^ I loved that quote at the time! And ever since then. I had a colleague who loved to chuck it and then chuckle about how when you really think about it, the meaning boils down to, Nope, don't trust!
As for the debate about xenophobia and tinfoil hats -- or whatever it is we're debating here...
I am saying that car insurance polices in the U.S. cover exactly none of that.
For any type of car.
(OEM warranties and after-market extended warranties, sure. And the Taycan after-market extended warranty policies are therefore priced accordingly).
So car insurance premiums for the Taycan in...
What kind of insurance are referencing?
In the U.S., car insurance (as opposed to some sort of extended maintenance plan) is unrelated to reliability. (Repair cost for collisions, yes, that is certainly a factor. But car insurance here doesn't cover mechanical failure unrelated to collisions.)
Porsche would have beaten out the highly esteemed marques of Chevrolet and Buick were it not for our Taycan.
In all seriousness, when I've looked into the methodologies of various JD Power surveys, I have not been impressed.
Okay, I see how you calculated that -- but it's kind of apples and oranges. The faster speed from the Taycan 22kW option should be compared to a standard hardwired 48a EVSE. The 22kW option still allows for far faster charging times of course, but a hardwired 48a is so fast for home charging...
@daveo4EV How are you arriving at "a full charge at 9.6 kW can take 10+ hours (from 10% or less to 100%)"? My calcs show ~8hrs with a standard 48a hardwired charger, and that matches up with my own experience. (Of course the PCM and app vastly overstate the time...)
