Hi all,

Quick question on the 12V auxiliary battery for the Cayenne EV.

I've been assuming it's AGM (not lithium-ion like the Taycan's J1 platform) since the Cayenne EV shares the PPE platform with the Macan EV. Is that correct?

Also, the Macan EV has a known issue where a dead 12V battery leaves you unable to open the boot due to no mechanical override. Given the Cayenne EV is on the same platform, should we expect the same design limitation? Wondering if the Cayenne EV has the same design, or if Porsche addressed this on the larger model.

Would appreciate any technical insight. Thanks!

This dead 12V issue is common amongst alot of EV makes. They need to step up and use a 12V LFP like Tesla has been doing for a few years now. The change gives lower operating cost, better reliability, more frunk space and reduced weight. Combined I think it's gotta be worth the extra $30.

Porsche use the same - LiFePO4 (LFP) - 12v battery tech on the Taycan (since 2019) and Macan EV.

I imagine Cayenne EV is the same.

12v battery issues have plagued many EV car brands due to software issues.
