I don't think that's true. Check out BYD for example. They outsold Tesla with a sliver less profitability percentage, but that by definition means Tesla cannot won 70-80% of all EV profit. Many brands sell Evs but If you look at who makes money out of them story is quite different. Tesla’s market share in “profitable EVs” would be more than 70-80%. #2 producer of EVs in the us, GM, losing a TON of money in each EV they deliver and could not be happier if EV trend went down the drain. Ford is not any better. Kort has a point. Right wing media has always been anti-EV, but left wing was balancing that. Sometime over-the last year left wing changed their position on EVs once they realized the brand that is really benefiting from EV movement is Tesla.
I was talking about the US market. BYD is not sold in the US. US left wing media could not care less about BYD. They care about the unionized big three, who, despite all the subsidies could not manage to make money on EVs and story changed in almost 1 year. Anti-union and anti-dealership network (both very strong political groups in US) Tesla became a singular threat to traditional auto makers. The pro-EV narrative in left wing media went away to a great extent recently.I don't think that's true. Check out BYD for example. They outsold Tesla with a sliver less profitability percentage, but that by definition means Tesla cannot won 70-80% of all EV profit.
Most of the anti-EV stuff I see in the US is no longer anti-Tesla specific. This has changed over the last couple of years. Right wing actually started to embrace Elon, so they will shit on EV's not Elon. Left wing hates Elon but loves EVs, so they will shit on Elon not EV's. There seems to be much larger anti-EV media campaign lately which does not seem to have a left/right wing focus, just misinformation. If I was to guess, probably financed by oil industry and legacy automakers. The latter resent having to spend a shit-ton of money on engineering just to at best continue making the same money they used to with just ICE, plus don't like rapidly innovating EV-only competition from Tesla, BYD, or other EV newcomers.
Might be a different atmosphere in the USA when it comes to EVs - that is Elon/Tesla = EVs.a lot of the anti EV propaganda has surfaced recently because in MY opinion the leftists and their sycophants in the media are raining hate down on Musk because he is very anti progressive/woke. Musk is EVs and destroying the EV is akin to destroying Musk.
He is a giant phallus. It's all Mr Bean's fault..... https://news.sky.com/story/mr-bean-actor-rowan-atkinson-blamed-for-slow-electric-car-sales-13065947
When the Chinese manufacturers really get motoring (sorry about the pun) on the export market it's going to be something to watch out for.I don't think that's true. Check out BYD for example. They outsold Tesla with a sliver less profitability percentage, but that by definition means Tesla cannot won 70-80% of all EV profit.

To the EV haters I would politely thank them for their feedback and let them know I would pass it on to a respected forum such as Tellsomeonewhogivesatoss.comWhen I first got my Taycan in 2021 most people were positive or neutral about ev's.
Now I find most ICE drivers are negative and all come out with the same old arguments that they have 'heard about'.
No experience mind you - just what they have heard / read.
Even people who have no interest in cars and should know better.
They don't want to hear from someone who has driven ICE cars for over 40 years and now has an EV what the pros and cons are.
They already know they are 'bad'.
There are obviously dark forces at play and it was great to see in the UK (amazingly) that this fake news has now been picked up at the top level.

in my opinion the biggest issue facing potential EV owners is the availability of charging. what you've described remains in the realm of vaporware.End of the day, economics win. Sooner or later the mass will realize that the operating cost for an EV over its usable life is much better than an ICE that's when the change will happen. Wallet wins out every single day no matter what the Right or Left says or EV-hating media publish. There is a reason why BP's and Shell's of the world are investing in renewables. They see the writing on the wall. Its a matter of time and here in the US, IRA is helping with NEVI backed chargers popping up fast. That excuse of lack of chargers will soon disappear too and the prices continue to fall so haters will run dry on excuses. Its a great time to watch all this generational change happening right in front of us.
I was never anti-EV but I admit I didn’t fully understand them until Taycan. My reference point was the typical “Tesla-bro” that fancied him/herself a superior humanoid for having made the switch to EV.When I first got my Taycan in 2021 most people were positive or neutral about ev's.

No one cares about my opinion but I’m ok with that.I'm doing the only thing I can control... buying and driving an EV and telling others of my great experience in doing so. As a "car guy" whose opinion is valued by others around me on this topic, maybe that's good enough. Someone like @f1eng with his background driving an EV matters obviously way more than me. I can't control the press, and I can't control the internet, and I can't worry about the propaganda being promoted online -- the internet sites are always going to write about what gets the most eyeballs... and right now that's the anti-EV crowd that is threatened by the rapid state of change in the world and with technology generally along with an embedded petroleum industry more than happy to feed them those stories. The problem is we as a planet need to solve climate change sooner rather than later - otherwise, I'd say let the inevitability of EVs as a superior technology win out over time and don't worry about the rest.
I agree, charging remains an issue for foreseeable future till NEVI takes hold and EA, EVGO etc. are held accountable for out-of-order chargers. Will also add that apartment dwellers may not be the ones who may transition as yet and I won't even count them in. If home dwellers start transitioning, it will be a huge step forward. Other than Tesla's, charging for long-distance driving is painful but then again, if home-owners who mostly drive to work see the value with EVs, things will start changing.in my opinion the biggest issue facing potential EV owners is the availability of charging. what you've described remains in the realm of vaporware.
a huge amount of the population does not have access to charging at home, think apartment dwellers. and those people are dependent on public charging.
the EA network and others like chargepoint, EVGO are not reliable and number of L3 chargers is not keeping pace with the large numbers of EVs that have been delivered, have you been made to wait for an open charging spot? I have and it is a huge downer.
most people enjoy the ability to get in their cars and go without needing to think about the cars range. In a gasser there is almost always a place to fuel up.
Until EVs can emulate the convenience of fueling like a gasser it will be a tough sell to the mainstream driver.
