Sorry but Karun was pushing that Panamera harder than anyone on here ever has on the street, so saying that ‘my car never leaned like that’ is irrelevant. That car was being driven at the limit by a professional F1 driver.

Also that woman, Vicki, while not F1, is a very experienced race car driver. It’s not like they handed the Taycan to Vanna White.
It doesn't take an F1 driver to do high speed turns, at the point to which the car loses traction. You don't have to be a professional driver to push a car to its limits and past. Just cuz he would torch me around that track doesn't mean I can't shred some tires trying.

But maybe part of the reason you’re shredding tires is because you’re not as skilled a driver. A professional driver is vastly better at using available traction than you or I. That’s why the pros can corner at speeds that most of can’t without putting the car into a wall. Unless you’re talking about panic braking in a straight line, skill determines the point at which traction is lost.

Sit in the passenger seat when a pro racer is running 10/10ths and you’ll likely be cleaning out your underpants when the sessions over. It’s nothing whatsoever like one of us driving around on the street, or even a track day for that matter.

I totally get your point but don't assume I'm a hack with no track experience or training...
BTW, plenty of my passengers have 'wet their pants.'?

I just checked on the configurator- that Panamera, an e-hybrid, comes with PDCC Sport as standard. It also comes with 230kg ? more weight than the standard Panamera Turbo S (and 70kg more than the Taycan Turbo S).

I dont believe their intention was to have a definitive answer to which one is best, it seemed to me they were having a bit of fun and made their own criteria as to say which one they liked more. It's 5th gear!!
Appreciate you bringing some sanity to the discussion. ???

Exactly ? and of course get some clicks to generate revenue with a video that hopefully people will watch and enjoy. I mean, seems to have worked. After all here we are dissecting their video :)

Are you a professional racing driver? Because the difference between an F1 driver and even a high skill PCA instructor is like the difference in basketball skills between Lebron James and Kevin James.

You don't need to be an F1 driver to test the body roll, just do a high speed slalom on a wide empty street, the Panamera with PDCC stays almost flat no matter how hard you throw it into a slalom.

There are 6 professional track test on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=The+Panamera+Turbo+S+E-Hybrid.+6+tracks
Those are marketing videos on high speed F1 tracks. The video in this thread is a tight, short track. The cars are going to lean more when pushed on such a track.

Rewatching Karun's lap of the same track in a Taycan Turbo (with PDCC), timed at 45.5s, there is noticeable body roll, but seemingly not as dramatic as the Panamera's (unfortunately there's no directly comparable footage at the chicane).
I'm betting that, without the extra quarter of a ton of hybrid system, the "regular" Panamera Turbo S has better control.

The test group was pretty interesting and a whole second over a pretty short hot-lap is a lot of time. It did look like Karun pushed the Panamera more than Vicky pushed the Taycan (plus she said so herself). The dig at charging an EV at the end was a bit silly and needless IMO. Like they wouldn't take a break of 30 mins after filming and you couldn't possibly charge a Taycan on a fast-charger in that time period. Whether there was one nearby I guess is another issue, but it just seemed a bit cheap to me

Having now owned a PHEV and a Taycan for a period, the PHEV seems more and more silly every week I use it, compared to the Taycan (or a full on ICE car). Especially for those journeys that are longer than say, 40 miles or so point to point

I expect if Karun was driving both the difference may have been more.
I’ll ask him on Wednesday :)
Saw Karun today for a drink at the pub made famous in “Inspector Morse”.
He didn’t remember the exact programme but said he usually would do both timed laps and the rest is video entertainment.

Saw Karun today and what you write here is the facts.
