Porsche / Vodafone Tracker - Be Aware

For those of you who have a Porsche / Vodafone tracker and had one previously say in the Macan, you should be aware of a change in the capability. If you didn’t have the tracker fob in car with the previous tracker fitted, you received a text asking if it was a false alarm, if you didn’t respond then they called.

The new improved tracker now deals with a lack of the fob totally differently. Without the fob, you start the car (or it has already started with comfort access) but you can’t select drive or reverse and an alarming warning appears - in my case it was as below. I thought, oh no a rerun of the issues some members had on the Macan EV forum. I didn’t have the fob as the car was on the drive and I was attempting to finish setting up my preferences. Called the dealer, apologised straight away that they didn’t tell me and explained the thought was putting a serious warning up and preventing selecting drive or reverse, would help prevent a theft. In effect, as it prevents driving it is a bit like a junior ‘Ghost’.

I thought posting this would stop another member going through the trauma I had thinking that on day 1, the car had a serious issue or rubbish software.

This post gives me some PTSD because of the issues I've had with warnings like that on my Lucid Gravity. At least there's an explanation for the error in this case though.

Yes - well tested also. I’ve tried to drive the car 3 times without the fob and couldn’t and received 3 different failure messages. Well done to the dealer for finding out from the supplier.
